- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; a quotation is being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Office of Mission Support (OMS), Administration and Resources Management Offices in Durham, NC requires a one-time purchase to replace trash and recycling bins for the EPA-RTP facility. The new containers will allow for comingled recycling of glass, cans and plastics; whereas the current bins require segregation. Additionally, the EPA-RTP has been working on creating a trash/recycling campaign to increase the occupant understanding of acceptable recycling. The new bins will assist in these communications through streamlining the bins (from 5 to 3 bins) and allowing for additional signage. This item description (further detailed in the attached Minimum Specifications) establishes the minimum requirements for the two types of trash and recycling bins needed on the RTP facility. Utilizing these new trash and recycling bins with recycling communications will allow the EPA to remove the aging, difficult to clean bins, comply with the recyclers ability to take materials comingled and streamline the waste bins by reducing from five waste bins (trash, paper, aluminum, plastic and glass) into three (trash, paper and co-mingled recycling).
