- Description
- The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) is a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), with a mission to catalyze the generation of innovative methods and technologies that will enhance the development, testing and implementation of diagnostics and therapeutics across a wide range of human diseases and conditions. In order to identify potential therapeutics for SARS-CoV2 infection and resulting coronavirus induced disease, it is necessary to screen HTS hits in a relevant tissue model for confirmation of antiviral activity in addition to screening for anti-viral induced disease compounds. NCATS has optimized and shown that MatTek human alveolar and tracheobronchial tissues can be used to robustly support SARS CoV2 infection and can successfully replicate antiviral findings seen in vivo (i.e. remdesivir and interferons). NCATS objective is to use these tissues for antiviral screening efforts and in order to identify potential disease targets for therapeutic intervention. THIS IS A NON-COMPETITIVE (NOTICE OF INTENT) COMBINED SYNOPSIS SOLICITATION TO AWARD A CONTRACT OR PURCHASE ORDER WITHOUT PROVIDING FOR FULL OR OPEN COMPETITION (INCLUDING BRAND-NAME). The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Office of Acquisition (OA), on behalf of the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), intends to negotiate and award a purchase order without providing for full and open competition (including brand-name) to MatTek Corporation, 200 Homer Ave., Ashland, MA 01721. The required tissues are for a project that has previously used tissues from MatTek Corporation. To ensure the continuity of science, the required tissue must also come from MatTek Corporation. See the attached Request for Quotations (RFQ) and attachments for complete requirement details.
