- Description
- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) intends to replace the existing Airport TraffiControl Tower (ATCT) (otherwise known as ANC ATCT) and Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) facility (otherwise known as A11) at the Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage, Alaska. A unique design is required for replacement ANC ATCT and TRACON due to the seismic hazards in Anchorage. It is critical the structural analysis and design is thorough and comprehensive and therefore, the FAA will utilize a� Structural Peer Review Panel (SPRP) to verify the accuracy, completeness, and acceptability of the Engineer of Record�s (EOR�s) submittals. The SPRP must provide an independent, objective, technical review of design aspectthat relate to structural performance, according to the requirements and guidelines described herein, and must determine if the design generally conforms to the intent of the International Building Code (IBC); ASCE 7, Minimum Design Loads for Buildings anOther Structures; Tall Buildings Initiative: Guidelines for Performance-Based Seismic Design of Tall Buildings (TBI); and the code requirements detailed in the Request for Proposal (RFP) Scope of Work. The SPRP participation is not intended�to replace quality assurance measures ordinarily exercised by the EOR in the structural design of a building. Responsibility for the structural design remains solely with the EOR, and the burden to demonstrate conformance of the structural design to the intent of the specified codes resides with the EOR. The EOR is solely responsible for the construction contract documents. This is a presolicitation ONLY. This notice does NOT serve as the�official solicitation.
