Description

This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract and is not a request for quotes. The Department of Veterans Affairs and VA Medical Centers, East Orange, NJ intends to award a firm fixed price sole source contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253 Competition Requirements and FAR 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Haag-Streit Simulation / VRmagic Inc 245 First St., 18th Floor Cambridge, MA 02142 The objective of this sole source award is for a firm fixed price contract for the procurement of an Eyesi Surgical System. This award will consist of a base year and one (1) option year for warranty coverage. Market research has concluded that Eyesi Surgical Simulator is the only system that meets the requirements of VAMC research staff by providing capabilities for both cataract and retina surgeries. Furthermore, Eyesi is the most prevalent of the commercially available VR surgical simulators in the U.S. ophthalmic residency training programs and only Eyesi surgical trains for Phaco and retina surgeries. The Veterans Health Administration prohibits the use of gray market items in their Medical Centers. Gray market items are considered to be items outside of the original equipment manufacturer s intended distribution channels. List of Products with required units: Eyesi Surgical Platform - 1 Eyesi CAT Surgery Interface - 1 Eyesi CAT Software Package - 1 Eyesi VIT Surgery Interface 1 Eyesi VIT Software Package - 1 ES Gold Software Pack Plus (License for all Eyesi Surgical software updates to licensed modules and operating system for 36 months) 1 This notice of intent to sole source is not a request for quotes; however all responsible sources may submit a capability statement which shall be considered by the Government. All capability statements must be received by no later than 4:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on May 27, 2021. Responses to be submitted to Lindsay Goldsmith, Contracting Officer at lindsay.goldsmith@va.gov. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
