- Description
- This is a notice of intent, not a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will not be issued and quotations will not be requested. The National Institute of Health (NIH), Clinical Center (CC) intends to award a fixed price purchase order toHologic Inc. San Diego, CA 92121on a sole source basis to procurepreventive and repairmaintenance for the Panther Fusion System, S/N 209000342 used for COVID-19 clinical testing by the Microbiology Service in the Department of Laboratory Medicine. The proposed vendor, Hologic, Inc., is the sole manufacturer, vendor and service provider for the Panther Fusion System. The system is not sold in the United States by any distributors or other third parties. The Panther Fusion System is proprietary instrumentation that provides rapid, efficient, and sensitive extraction of nucleic acid (DNA) from clinical patient and employee samples, which allows for quick identification positive results. The instrument also offers the flexibility to run these assays in a manner that limits on-hand technologist time, improving productivity and efficiency. Because the Panther Fusion Systemis proprietary technology, no other vendor can provide the service required for this instrument. As the supplies are proprietary, it is not feasible, nor in the interest of the government, to obtain full and open competition for the maintenance of the Panther Fusion System. The total value of the contract for one year shall not exceed the Simplified Acquisition Threshold of $250,000.00. This acquisition is being conducted under the authority of the FAR Subpart 13.106-1(b). Interested concerns capable of providing the same or similar products or services as described in this notice may submit a capability statement outlining their capabilities. Capability Statements must be received within the time set forth in this synopsis to be considered by the Government. A determination to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
