Description

PLEASE READ THIS NOTICE CAREFULLY AS IT CONSTITUTES THE ONLY NOTICE THAT WILL BE PUBLISHED. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) intends to negotiate a one-time, sole source, firm-fixed price purchase order with Nikon Instruments, Inc. (Melville, NY) for a LUCIA TRASOSCAN Imaging System. The FBI requires this instrument in order to automate the scanning and comparison of general toolmarks. Based on market research conducted and contacts made with knowledgeable individuals within the Government and related industry, it has been determined that the LUCIA TRASOSCAN Imaging System was designed and manufactured by Laboratory Imaging and the only distributor for the Lucia Trasoscan is Nikon Instruments Inc; therefore, they are the only company in the US capable of providing the product that will satisfy agency requirements. This notice will be distributed solely through the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) Website (www.fbo.gov). Interested parties are responsible for monitoring the FBO site to ensure they have the most up-to-date information about this acquisition. The North American Classification System Code is 333314, Optical Instrument and Lens Manufacturing; the size standard is 500 employees. The FBI intends to negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-2. Interested parties may identify their interests and capability to respond to this requirement to the attention of Jonathan Johnson via email at jejohnson3@fbi.gov by Wednesday, July 14, 2021 (12:00 pm Eastern). Only timely email responses will be considered. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses received in response to this notice is at the discretion of the Government. Justification documents available upon request.�
