Description
This acquisition is restricted to the following source: Company: Standard Imaging, Inc. Company Address: 3120 Deming Way, Middleton, WI 53562-1461 The ionization chambers and build-up caps listed in Quote ID Q50554 is estimated to cost $21,114 and is required to be delivered within 30-days from receipt of funds from the Department of Energy. The purchase includes: two Model A3 Exradin spherical ion chambers with two associated Model C552 build-up caps, and three Model A4 Exradin spherical ion chambers with three associated Model C552 build-up caps. See Quote ID Q50554 for details. The connector for each ion chamber shall be a BNC type connector. The Department of Energy Laboratory Accreditation Program (DOELAP) has procured Exradin ion chambers from Standard Imaging for more than 25-years. Standard Imaging products have proved robust to handling and produce very stable and accurate measurement results. The chambers are placed in x-ray and gamma radiation fields to determine dose-rates. The chambers are straight forward and simple to hook up to DOELAP electrometers and irradiator systems. The processes used in the calibration of our radiation sources were developed using the unique features, design specifications and geometry of Standard imaging ion chambers. Standard Imaging also provides calibrated chambers with NIST traceability. Standard Imaging ion chambers are also used on all DOELAP irradiator systems to provide real-time delivered dose comparison data. Backup units of the same make and manufacture are critical to the operation of these systems to minimize uncertainty of results. Standard Imaging has an outstanding record for service and have proven the quality and reliability of their equipment and services. The material or service must be compatible in all aspects (form, fit, and function) with existing systems presently installed. The current equipment consists of Standard Imaging SuperMAX electrometers connected via a low noise cable to Standard Imaging ion chambers and the new item/service must coordinate, connect, or interface with the existing system by connection directly from the electrometer to the ion chamber via a BNC type connector back to the electrometer. These are ""direct replacement"" parts/components for existing equipment.Standard Imaging has demonstrated the level of accuracy, precision, and uncertainty to the specifications required by A2LA, the accrediting body for the Radiological and Environmental Sciences Laboratory. No other supplier has been identified that can provide the level of quality required by A2LA for the Standard Imaging ion chambers. No other type of ion chamber can replace Standard Imaging ion chambers for these irradiator systems. Doing so would invalidate the current programming of the irradiator systems to certify our NIST traceable dose-rates.
