- ROMAN CATHOLIC PRIEST AND RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM ADVISOR (REPA) CAPODANNO MEMORIAL CHAPEL (CMC), WADSWORTH STATEN ISLAND, NY GENERAL: The overall function of the Roman Catholic Priest is to celebrate Mass, provide Sacramental Ministry, advise the Director of Religious Education and assist the Command Chaplain. This service will include: leading Roman Catholic CMC Community in worship on Sundays, Holy Days of Obligation, and Holy Week. It will also include working in a supervisory capacity with Director of Religious Education (DRE), Cantor and Musician, utilization of volunteers for program support, and using special events (upon approval) to benefit the Catholic Community. SPECIFIC TASKS AND OBJECTIVES: l. Specifically the contracted priest will: a: Conduct Weekly Sunday Roman Catholic mass and holy day services or when requested to by the command, or provide a substitute when needed: b. Advise DRE on the Roman Catholic education program. c. Provide a Roman Catholic program spending plan and an activities event calendar for the fiscal year, detailing all program requirements. d. Solicit Roman Catholic lay-leaders to assist in developing the Catholic program. e. Maintain contact with all Roman Catholic service members and provide them information pertaining to Catholic affairs and programs. f. Liaison with COTR on all Roman Catholic affairs and related activities. g. Attend all meetings required by the Command Chaplain. h. Provide the Sacrament of Reconciliation before the Sunday Mass and a Penitential Service in Advent for the Roman Catholic Community and the Religious Education Program, and a similar service for adults in Lent. I. Celebrate First Penance and First Eucharist for the children. m. Visit Roman Catholic military hospital patients. n. Assist DRE and RCIA Facilitator with pre-sacramental instruction as needed. o. Advise Command Chaplain as needed. 2. No later than 60 days after acceptance of this contract the Priest will submit a proposed calendar of events for the upcoming year to the COTR. This will assist in helping schedule the overall command religious program for Staten Island. 3. PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE: a. The position requires that the Priest be at CMC: (1) On Sundays 30 minutes prior to Mass. (2) For any special activities such as holy days, celebrations or other activities involving the Roman Catholic Congregation. b. The total hours should be approximately four (4) hours per week. 4. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The contractor must also present proof of Ordination as a Priest and be endorsed for this military ministry by the endorsing agent, which is the Archdiocese for the Military Services.
