- THIS IS A SPECIAL NOTICE FOR SITE ACCESS (VISIT) TO THE PROJECT LOCATION- PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS ARE NOT AVAILABLE SITE ACCESS DATES:� November 1 through November 4, 2021 ONLY VISIT:�https://www.google.com/maps/41.930471,-123.4783758 or�https://earth.google.com/web/@41.93119042,-123.47876412 Objective:� To provide interested bidders with project information and access to the project site prior to the winter weather conditions. Questions and Answers:� No questions will be answered during the�site-visits.�� All questions arising from the contractor site-visits must be submitted in writing TO: CFLContracts@dot.gov and will be answered on the SAM.GOV website.�� Please note the project is still under development, so many questions will not be answered during this time and should be deferred until the formal solicitation phase of the project. PRELIMINARY drawings are provided for informational purposes only.� These are NOT the final plans. Project Description: This project is located approximately 5 miles south of the Oregon border in Siskiyou County, California. Upper West Branch Creek Bridge is located approximately 12.5 miles Northwest of Happy Camp on Forest Route 18N31 and approximately 1/3 miles off Grayback Road.� Coordinates for the bridge are 41�55'49.7""N, 123�28'41.7""W This project involves replacement of the Upper West Branch Creek Bridge which was damaged by fire in 2020 and will be replaced with a proposed concrete bridge.� As a green initiative and innovation, the concrete mix design will include the use of wood cellulose nano-fibers or crystals (CNF or CNC). The proposed bridge crossing is at the same location as the existing bridge.� Concrete abutments and a steel truss superstructure remain post-fire at the project site.� The existing superstructure will be removed and disposed of as part of the FHWA contract. However, all or portions of the existing concrete abutments will remain.� An asphalt overlay, bridge rail and guardrail are proposed on the bridge and bridge approaches. Significant items and quantities:� Project will include, but is not limited to bridge construction, embankment construction, aggregate base, asphalt paving, survey, erosion control, permanent and temporary traffic control, and revegetation.� Major quantities include: 1,000 +/- cuyd of earthwork 1 lpsm of removal of structures and obstructions (includes existing bridge elements) 1 lpsm of concrete bridge (includes foundations) 500 +/- tons of aggregate base course 300 +/- tons of asphalt concrete pavement 300 +/- linear ft of guardrail Anticipated Construction Amount: $1.0-4.0M Construction Season:� Cold weather and snow are likely during late fall, winter, and early spring months. It is anticipated that on-site construction for this project is from May to November of 2022 and will only take one season. Anticipated Permits: California Construction General Permit for compliance with Section 402 of the Clean Water Act Clean Water Act Section 404 and 401 Temporary Traffic Control: Forest Route 18N31 will remain closed during construction. Anticipated Advertisement Date:� March 2022 Anticipated Award Date: April 2022 Other: Construction access to both sides of the bridge is available by detour. No stream crossings or fords will be allowed. The adjacent sections of closed roadway may be used for staging and storage.
