- Description
- The Antiviral Program for Pandemics (APP) aims to develop safe and effective antivirals to combat SARS-CoV-2. APP will accelerate the development of a portfolio of promising antivirals that can quickly pivot to combat future pandemics. Having safe and effective oral antiviral candidates ready for deployment in later-stage clinical trials against a newly emergent virus would save lives, reduce serious illness and prevent overwhelming surges in hospitalizations during a viral outbreak or pandemic. Most chemical reactions require heating, and typically can take several hours to complete. This is a major bottleneck to chemical synthesis. However, a microwave chemical synthesis system allows reactions to be completed in a fraction of the time and will help the APP group develop potential candidates against future pandemic threats by aiding in the synthesis of potential lead compounds to be tested in biological assays, as well as in vivo animal efficacy models. Purpose and Objectives: The purpose of this acquisition is to acquire two (2) of the Biotage Initiator+ Robot Sixty Microwave System or Equal that meet all salient characteristics.
