- Description
- 1.0 TITLE Maintenance Service Contract for Leica Microscopes 2.0 BACKGROUND The mission of the National Institutes of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), Light Imaging Section (LIS) of the Intramural Research Program (IRP) is to provide NIAMS scientists and collaborators access to state-of-the-art light imaging equipment and to offer training and assistance at all stages of the acquisition and analysis of images with various techniques of light and confocal microscopy. Microscopy is an essential technique utilized to image tissues in studies related to arthritis, muscle, and skin diseases. Throughout the years, LIS has acquired several Leica Microscope systems used to collect both fixed and living cells/tissues images. Proper maintenance and service of these instruments is necessary to assure reliable, uninterrupted operation with minimal delays due to needed repairs. Due to the sensitivity of the multiple facets of this instrument (including lasers, detectors, mechanics of automated systems, incubation chamber, computer, and software), an extended annual service contract is prudent to cover the cost of keeping these instruments running optimally. Currently, LIS Leica microscopes are under a maintenance contract with Leica Microsystems (HHSN268201800104A) which is due to expire on 4/30/2022. 2.1 OBJECTIVE The purpose of this procurement is to acquire a service agreement to properly maintain and repair LIS Leica Microscope systems, including the DMI6000, DMI6000 B TIRF w/ Adaptive Focus Control, SP8WLL2 STED3x and DM6000 B/M Basic Stand. 3.0 SCOPE The Contractor shall provide maintenance plan that includes preventive maintenance, travel expenses and manufacturer parts. All work must be performed by a factory trained/manufacturer authorized engineers and field technicians.
