- SINGLE-BEAM SONARS Sources Sought (Special Notice) The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting market research to determine the availability of qualified businesses capable of providing a single beam sonar with integrated survey grade global satellite navigation system receiver and motion reference unit as described in salient characteristics. This sources sought announcement is not a request for quote or proposal and the Government is not committed to award of a purchase order or contract pursuant to this announcement. The information resulting from this market research is simply for planning purposes to assist the Government in determining its acquisition strategy. The Government will not pay for any costs incurred in the preparation of information for responding to this notice. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code - 334511 Search, Detection, Navigation, Guidance, Aeronautical, and Nautical System and Instrument Manufacturing and associated size standard 1,250 employees apply to this announcement. All responsible sources may submit a brochure and/or technical specifications detailing the ability of their product to meet the salient characteristics included with this announcement. Responses to this announcement shall only be accepted through electronic mail addressed to yangzhideng@usgs.gov and must be uploaded and received in their entirety no later than 22 April 2022 at 1200 PST. Single-Beam Sonar Salient Characteristics Data Sonar system records raw ""full water-column"" echogram, not just digitized return and position information Sonar data can be collected at sample rates of >10 Hz, preferably 20 Hz Sonar data can be collected in water depths of 15 cm Sonar data contain time-stamp information (ZDA / GPS or 1PPS clock time stamped data files and output stream minimizing latency on saved or exported data) Unit contains an integrated survey grade (L1/L2 frequency) GPS capable of operating in real time kinematic mode as well as record raw data for post-processing Portability Transducer equal or less than 3 kg in weight Can be mounted for use with kayak, small 3-ft raft, in addition to small boats/skiffs and PWC Control/data acquisition unit small enough to mount to kayak, small 3-ft raft and PWC Self-contained & waterproof data acquisition Data are logged by acquisition system and do not require separate computer platform Control/data acquisition unit is totally self-contained (power, data collection, data logging) Control/data acquisition unit preferably uses Bluetooth/wireless to eliminate hardwire cables vulnerable to splash, corrosion and breakage when mounted to small crafts Control/data acquisition also accepts RS232 cable external GNSS input LCD touch screen accessing all menu operations to control echo sounder and data logging At least 16GB internal memory Hardware/Software Integration Sonar unit can integrate with additional GPS systems including RTK-GPS Sonar unit can integrate with a motion reference unit (MRU) Sonar unit can integrate with Hypack software and data can be co-recorded on both internal and Hypack) platforms User upgradable firmware via USB port
