- Description
- THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. NO PROPOSALS ARE TO BE SUBMITTED IN RESPONSE TO THIS NOTICE. This notice is issued by the NASA/GSFC to post a Statement of Work to solicit responses from interested parties. This document is for information and planning purposes and to allow industry the opportunity to verify reasonableness and feasibility of the requirement, as well as promote competition. NASA/GSFC is looking to purchase a pair of CNC Electrical Discharge Machining Centers (EDM) to be incorporated into a Manufacturing Cell (MC). The MC will consist of 1 CNC wire EDM machine and 1 CNC Die-Sinker EDM machine with an additional rotary axis interfaced with the wire machine. Both machines should operate on 440 volts 3 phase, have multiple axis of motion controlled by an onboard computer system with a Windows 10 or later operating system and have similar graphical user interface, capable of reading G-code programming and have built in cycles that utilize operator inputs in the control to achieve desired cutting processes. Both machines shall have the ability to cross utilize work holding fixtures. The systems shall include, but are not limited to the following: Meehanite Cast Iron material for the machine base, X,Y,Z Sliders and U,V Sliders as appropriate. Motion control via Direct-Drive Dual-Anchored pre-tensioned ball screws minimum 32mm on the X,Y axis. Automatic wire threading system, programable tool changers, an integrated CNC control with a rotary axis control capability. A MDHWi100L Matsumoto MMK 4th axis rotary table unit with plug and play fully integrated capability on the wire machine. Thermal control of the machines by external cooler coupled to the coolant and monitored by use of sensors that maintain coolant temperature and casting temperature within 0.2F minimum. An active oxidation control system is required when using DI water in the cutting process. This pre-solicitation synopsis is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for the information submitted in response. The Government may not respond to questions/concerns submitted. The Government will use the information to finalize the RFP as necessary. All comments or questions shall be submitted electronically via email to Sarah.C.Odom@nasa.gov, no later than June 20, 2022 at 4pm EST. When responding reference Electrical Discharge Machining/Manufacturing Cell (EDM/MC) Procurement. NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable. The Center Ombudsman for this acquisition can be found at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/pub/pub_library/Omb.html . If a solicitation is released, then it and any additional documents will be available on www.Sam.gov. It is the offeror's responsibility to monitor this website for the release of the solicitation and amendments (if any). Potential offerors will be responsible for downloading their own copy of the solicitation and amendments, if any.
