- Description
- This is a Sources Sought notice. This is NOT a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. The purpose of this notice is to obtain information regardingthe availability and capability of all qualified sources to perform a potential requirement. This notice is issued to help determine the availability of qualified companies technically capable of meeting the Government requirement and to determine the method of acquisition. It is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract. Responses will not be considered as proposals or quotes. No award will be made as a result of this notice. The Government will NOT be responsible for any costs incurred by the respondents to this notice. This notice is strictly for research and information purposes only. Small businesses are encouraged to respond. Background: To date, most large-scale genetic sequencing efforts for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias have been performed using short-read DNA sequencing. Although these approaches can identify single nucleotide changes and small indels, they are not optimized to identify large structural variations or repeat expansions. Recently long-read sequencing techniques have matured and are now ready at production level. To perform the long-read sequencing DNA needs to be isolated and sheared in specific ways to make sure the DNA molecules are intact but also that the DNA molecules are all a similar length. The Megarupter 3 is designed to shear DNA molecules in a reproduceable way and is a crucial step prior to sequencing. Purpose and Objectives: This acquisition is necessary for the DNA sequencing techniques for several projects studying neurodegenerative disorders. Project requirements: The contractor shall provide the following: Item Description Quantity Cat no Megaruptor 3 1 B06010003 Megarupter cassette 2 B06010010 Megarupter shearing DNA Fluid and Bundle 1 E07030001 Shipping 1 G10010010 Anticipated period of performance: 2-6 weeks after receipt of order (ARO).
