The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Network Contracting Office 20 (NCO 20) is conducting a market survey/sources sought notification and is seeking potential sources for an This Sources Sought Notice is issued for information and planning purposes only. This is not a solicitation or a request for proposal and shall not be construed as an obligation or commitment by the Government. An award will not be made on any offers submitted in response to this notice, and it shall not be implied the Government is committed to providing any solicitation or award following this notice. The Government will in no way be bound to this information if any solicitation is issued.  Salient characteristics Virtual Reality Surgical Simulator System (Hardware & Software) for Intraocular Surgery Including Cataract & VitreoRetinal Surgical Procedures #1. Hardware and software simulation system for training in intraocular surgery. #2. Simulator operating microscope for viewing a virtual reality based high resolution surgical field in stereo. #3. Foot pedal for simulator operating microscope to control focus and zoom within the virtual reality based surgical field. #4. Foot pedal for simulator operating microscope to control fluidics #4. Simulator surgical handpieces/instruments that are interactive with the virtual reality based surgical field. #5. Simulator patient head and eye for cataract surgical procedures, and simulator head and eye for vitreoretinal surgical procedures. #6. Training software to permit intraocular surgical training requiring various levels of complexity within the virtual reality platform, including advanced training modules in management of simulated intraoperative surgical complications. #7. Cataract surgical simulation hardware and software including basic microsurgical skills, casulorhexis, lens segmentation, lens removal, IOL insertion (including toric IOLs), and simulation of intraoperative complications such as posterior capsular rupture. #8. Vitreoretinal surgical simulation hardware and software including basic microsurgical skills, membrane peeling & removal, endolaser, vitrectomy, air/oil/gas exchange, and retinal detachment treatments. #9. Software access to performance summaries of trainees with feedback to improve surgical skills. Faculty members can monitor trainees progress, to tailor individualized training. #10. An extra set of simulator hand instruments.
