- Description
- Summary: This is a Sources Sought notice and not a request for quotes. This request is solely for the purpose of conducting market research to enhance VHA s understanding of the market s offered products, services and capabilities. The Government will not pay any costs for responses submitted in response to this Sources Sought. This Sources Sought notice provides an opportunity for respondents to submit their notice of ability, and their available products and services in response to the requirement described below. Vendors are being invited to submit information relative to their potential of fulfilling the requirement below, in the form of a capability response that addresses the specific requirement identified in this Sources Sought. The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is seeking a vendor to provide the following products and/or services below. This Sources Sought is to facilitate the Contracting Officer s review of the market base, for acquisition planning, size determination, and procurement strategy. The Department of Veterans Affairs, St. Louis VA Medical Center, is in need of a Biorad ChemiDoc MP Imaging System and Biorad Trans-Blot® Turbo Transfer System needed for measurements of protein levels to validate changes in gene expression and to quantify changes in these studies. Technical Specifications/ salient characteristics Salient Characteristics Chemi-Doc Imaging System Required for imaging western blot and agarose gels and enable quantification of data derived. Feature set/Technical capabilities and standards: 2,750 H x 2,200 V pixels, 6.05 megapixels 70% quantum efficiency (QE) at 425 nmmaximum QE of 75% at 525 nm/ 75 50% QE at 525 800 nm f/0.95 fast lens 16-bit data /acquisition/4.54 x 4.54 m pixel size : Low read noise, 6e Low dark current, 0.002 e /p/s at 15°C Peltier cooling to 15°C, absolute: White Sample Tray for trans-white illumination; use with colorimetric stains, such as Coomassie and silver stains. Flexible and automated image exposure setting for all compatible applications. Ensure the optimal exposure time to obtain the best dynamic range for all applications. Optimal auto-exposure for chemiluminescence: produces an image with full dynamic range. This setting is a good choice when performing quantitative analysis of the blot Rapid auto-exposure for chemiluminescence: acquires an image with a limited dynamic range using a shorter exposure time Manual exposure is available to override automated imaging Software-suggested bin setting based on defined imaging area to achieve publication-quality images. Image Lab Touch Software takes the guesswork out of estimating the shortest exposure time for obtaining high-resolution images (175 microns per pixel). Several image export options with Image Lab. Users can export images to a flash drive, external hard drive, and shared folder on a network drive or stand-alone computer. Users can export images in several file formats (Image Lab SCN/MSCN, 16-bit TIFF, 8-bit TIFF, JPG) suitable for their purposes, such as analysis and publication. Illumination sources include: Trans-ultraviolet: 302 nm excitation Epi-white Trans-white (requires White Sample Tray) Trans-blue: 450 490 nm excitation (requires Blue Sample Tray) Epi-blue: 460 490 nm excitation Epi-green: 520 545 nm excitation Epi-red: 625 650 nm excitation Epi far red: 650 675 nm excitation Epi near infrared: 755 777 nm excitation Standard 590/110 nm filter and chemiluminescence filters: 518 546 nm filter for blue-excitable fluorophores and stains 577 613 nm filter for green-excitable fluorophores and stains 675 725 nm for red-excitable fluorophores and stains 700 730 nm filter for far red excitable fluorophores and stains 813 860 nm for near infrared excitable fluorophores and stains. Key points: High-efficiency charge-coupled device (CCD) with low read and dark noise provides reduced background and enhanced sensitivity to match the sensitivity of X-ray film (gold standard). Deeply cooled sensor allows longer integration time to detect weak signals. High-resolution CCD ideal for resolving closely spaced bands on a gel or blot. Quantitative imaging system over at least 4 orders of linear dynamic range and to allow users to gather maximum information from a blot that has both intense and weak signals in a single image. No need for a separate transilluminator with Ultraviolet (UV) light. System that protects samples from ultraviolet damage and allows external visualization of DNA samples without a UV shield. The different available illumination sources allow unprecedented versatility in multicolor detection. Compatible with stain-free technology for gel and blot protocols. Technology functionality allowing researchers quality control (QC) validation of their results at each stage of the blotting process. The ChemiDoc Imaging Systems provide total protein normalization and stain-free technology as an alternative to normalization with single housekeeping proteins (HKPs). Stain-free total protein normalization can be used to validate HKPs or may replace HKPs entirely, simplifying the western blot workflow and allowing for probing another antigen of interest on the same western blot Smart Tray Technology: Automatic recognition of application-specific tray and adjustment of imaging Parameters and software options Autofocus: Pre-calibrated focus for any zoom setting or sample height Auto-exposure: Two user-defined modes (rapid or optimal auto-exposure) for all blot and gel Imaging applications Image flat fielding: Dynamic pre-calibrated and optimized for each application Touch-screen: Multitouch capability 12.1 display Maximum image area: 21 x 16.8 cm Detector: Cooled CCD, 6 megapixels Illumination sources: Trans-UV, 302 nm excitation, Epi-white (requires White Sample Tray) Trans-blue 450-490 nm excitation (requires Blue Sample Tray) Detection: Chemiluminescence detector, 590/110 nm standard emission filter for protein and DNA gel and blot imaging Data output: 16-bit or 8-bit SCN, TIFF, JPEG files Salient Characteristics -Transfer System: Required for protein transfers from SDS page protein gels onto membrane for the staining with antibodies and subsequent visualization in the Biorad ChemiDoc MP Imaging System. Combination of traditional blotting techniques with modern filter paper and buffers, allowing rapid transfer of proteins from gels to membranes with minimal preparation time. System integrates a high amperage power supply that directs current between a built-in platinized titanium anode and a stainless steel cathode. This feature enables highly efficient and rapid transfer in as little as 3 minutes. System in a ready-to-use format that allows researchers to obtain their results faster and easier, with reproducibility. Rapid transfer transfers mini or midi gels in as little as 3 min High throughput can transfer 1 4 mini or 1 2 midi gels in a single run Greater transfer efficiency higher transfer efficiency compared to other transfer methods Flexible design allows user to customize transfer conditions and is compatible with traditional semi-dry consumables Environmentally friendly environmentally safe consumables eliminate disposal cost Additional Items Required: Additional White Light Conversion Screen (White sample tray WDT; added to the Bio-Rad quote), for viewing Coomassie, silver stain, and other colorimetric gel stains.
