Description
RDER Industry Engagement Day Announcement WHAT:� The Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E))/Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for the Department of Defense (DoD) is hosting an Industry Engagement Day to inform private industry about the Rapid Defense Experimentation Reserve (RDER). Commencing in FY2023, the RDER initiative is a top priority of the Deputy Secretary of Defense with OUSD(R&E) as lead. WHY:� RDER will drive efforts to compete with an adversary through the development of capabilities that support the joint warfighter including, but not limited to, fires, command and control, logistics, and capabilities that will drive information advantage. These efforts will culminate with multi-competent experiments that combine multiple prototypes and capabilities to quickly explore new concepts and create new capabilities. WHEN: The Industry Engagement Day will be held at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU-APL) in Laurel, MD on July 26, 2022. The event is scheduled for 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM ET during which industry partners will learn about the RDER effort�s vision, proposal cycle, technical priorities, capability challenges, and opportunities that need private sector support (details below). This event will include several classified briefings on the RDER program and proposal criteria as well as technology capability requirements.� Following the event, there will be breakout sessions to talk with representatives from the RDER program about industry proposals. The overall classification of the event is SECRET // NO FOREIGN. Advance registration is required and all registrants must submit their clearance via a Visitor Access Request (VAR) to JHU-APL. THIS IS AN INDUSTRY BRIEIFNG DAY ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY. This announcement is issued solely for information and planning purposes and does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a promise to issue an RFP in the future. DATE:� Tuesday, July 26, 2022 TIME:� 9:00AM � 2:00PM ET LOCATION:� Kossiakoff Center located at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, 11100 Johns Hopkins Rd, Laurel, MD 20723 https://goo.gl/maps/Gv2AdygtR4v From Johns Hopkins Road, turn right onto Pond Road. The Kossiakoff Center is located on the left; parking is to the lower right, off of Pond Road. To RSVP: You MUST pass your clearance to JHU-APL no later than 20 July 2022 for admission.� Follow instructions below.� In addition, please email to us your name, title, and company/organization to our inbox at: osd.pentagon.ousd-r-e.mbx.joint-experimentation-proposal-submiss@mail.mil.� We cannot accept late RSVPs or same-day registrants due to the time required to clear participants. CLEARANCE PASSING INSRUCTIONS: Visitors from DoD organizations should send their clearances via the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) to SMO code 888984. Industry and non-DoD visitors who cannot use DISS must complete a Visit Authorization Letter containing the below information. Requests must be typed and on company letterhead. This letter may be sent by fax to 443-778-6400, uploaded to our FedRAMP certified secure dropbox, or emailed using a password-protected document to the address: invis-office@aplmsg.jhuapl.edu. The password must be provided either in a separate email or verbally by calling 240-228-5661. Dropbox and/or email are preferred as faxes may not be collected daily. Visitor�s full name (last, first, and middle), position, date and place of birth, citizenship, social security number, and email address Certification of the visitor�s DoD clearance level, date granted, and any special accesses (if applicable). Company name, address, and telephone number, assigned DoD CAGE code (if applicable), and certification of the level of the facility security clearance. Date of visit: 26 July 2022. Purpose of visit: Industry Briefing Event. Authorizing individual signature and printed name (e.g. officer of the company, contract authority, person in a position of public trust) A visitor may not sign his/her own request and the signature cannot be typed. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the JHU/APL Incoming Visitor Control Office at 240-228-5661. FOOD/CATERING: Coffee and lunch will be provided. We politely request that a $10 donation be given per person. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let Maria Smith know. Maria can be reached via email maria.smith@jhuapl.edu. FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR STAFF AND VISITORS: To enter the main campus and other APL facilities, visitors are required to check in for a badge and must attest to being fully vaccinated or show a negative COVID-19 test result (from within 72 hours), and complete a daily health check. Only a professionally administered rapid test or polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test will be accepted; at-home or self-administered tests are not acceptable. Visitors should complete this survey within a week of their expected visit. All persons visiting the Laboratory need to be free from any illness or COVID-like symptoms and currently must not be quarantined for any reason. To avoid delays and streamline the entry process, all visitors should check with their APL hosts about advance registration.
