STATEMENT OF WORK AND GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS Iridex Cyclo-G6 Glaucoma Laser System (Brand Name or Equal) Background The Baltimore VA Medical Center is looking to procure a Iridex Cyclo-G6 Glaucoma Laser System with Micropulse technology (Brand Name or Equal). Micropulse laser technology is a relatively new non-incisional, non-invasive modality for the treatment of glaucoma. It is a tissue sparing laser involving continuous laser beam that is delivered with low energy pulses interspersed with brief rest periods. This is thought to cool the tissue bring treated between the laser pulses leading to less thermal damage. This is an advantage over traditional diode laser which results in increased inflammation and tissue destruction. Micropulse laser is typically performed in the operating room and the affected eye is treated for a total of 90-240s duration. A single use probe is use for each patient and the entire procedure can be performed in less than 10 minutes, making this a very efficient procedure. In the Baltimore veteran population, Micropulse laser has been successfully used to treat advanced glaucoma after traditional incisional glaucoma surgeries have been unsuccessful and in patients who are not candidates for incisional surgery. Salient Characteristics Must have Color LCD Touchscreen interface Must have backlit control knobs and treat/standby button Must have the option for remote control (high viewing angle, color LCD touchscreen) Must have the option to add power-adjust wireless footswitch Must have wired footswitch included Must have a countdown timer with audible/voice confirmations Must have wavelength that is no less than 810nm infrared Must not weight less than 8.5lbs Must not be less than 10.6 W x 11.6 D x 7.8 H) Must come equipped with Smartprobe RFID with Laser Parameter Memory Must be air cooled Must have an exposure duration of 10-9000 ms in 549 increments and continuous pulse up to 60 seconds Must have an exposure interval 10-3000 ms in 542 increments and One Pulse Must have a micropulse duty cycle for continuously adjustable from 0.5%-50%, and preset selections of 5%, 10%, and 15% duty cycles Must have aiming beam that is diode laser, 635nm nominal Must have a treatment power of no less than 50-3000mw Must have a micropulse interval of 1.0-10.0 ms in 90 increments Must have a micropulse duration no less than 0.05-1.0 ms in 19 increments Delivery Location Baltimore VA Medical Center 10 N.
