Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Providence VA, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, with Nanocellect Biomedical, Inc., for the NanoCellect WOLF G2 Cell Sorter, 2-Laser, 488nm & 561nm, the N1 single-cell dispenser Nodule. The WOLF Cell Sorter uses patented, microfluidic-based sorting with robust laser-excitation and sensitive PMT detectors to isolate mammalian cells, microbes, nuclei, plant cells and more. A gentle and precise piezoelectric actuator directs cells into collection channels and allows analysis and sorting in a disposable format. This eliminates sample-to-sample contamination and biohazard exposure or cleanup. This equipment has several key features that will overcome the limitations of our current approach to cell isolation. The WOLF Cell Sorter can be used for a broad range of applications, including single-cell genomics, cell line development, gene editing/CRISPR, antibody discovery. NanoCellect Biomedical is the sole manufacturer, distributor and vendor of NanoCellects products. The unique features required by and found in the WOLF G2 include: 1. Sterility: The entire fluid path is supplied and sterilized with ethylene oxide. 2. Viability: The large, 50 x 75 micron sorting channels and low-pressure (1.45 PSI) system increase viability over droplet-based sorters. 3. No Cross-Contamination: Users have the option of using a fresh cartridge and tubing set when needed. 4. Portability: At less than 2 cubic feet and 44 pounds, the sorter can be routinely moved around the lab or into a laminar flow hood, as needed. 5. Two-way sorting: The cartridge has a default path, as well as two sorting paths for true two way sorting. 6. Biosafety: The low-pressure system does not produce aerosols and does not require a biosafety containment system. The entire sample and sheath fluid paths are disposable, eliminating the need to perform decontamination. 7. Value: The WOLF G2 Cell Sorter is the least expensive fluorescence-activated sorter. 8. Ease-of-use: The WOLF G2 system can be operated by a novice on the first day of use. 9. Volumetric: The only sorter that can dispense cells in a known volume. N1 Single Cell Dispenser 1. Sterility: The entire fluid path is supplied and sterilized with ethylene oxide. 2. Viability: The large dispensing channels and low-pressure system increase viability over droplet-based sorters. 3. Disposability: Users have the option of using a fresh cartridge and tubing set when needed. 4. Portability: At less than 1 cubic foot and 5 pounds, the N1 can be routinely moved around the lab or into a laminar flow hood, as needed. 5. Two-way sorting: The dispenser has two sorting paths for true two-way sorting. 6. Biosafety: The low-pressure system does not produce aerosols and does not require a biosafety containment system. The entire sample and sheath fluid paths are disposable, eliminating the need to perform decontamination. 7. Accuracy: The system can place single particles in >90% of wells without the need for operator expertise. 8. Microfluidic Plating: The only microfluidic system that can do both bulk sorting and plating of cells. This is a notice of intent and is not a request for competitive quotes; however, any responsible source who can provide an equivalent equipment with the same salient characteristics may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than June 28th, 7AM, EST. Interest/capability statements may be sent to Lynn Portman at lynn.portman@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
