Monique Paltan Contracting Officer CONTINUATION PAGE SOLICITATION 36C24222Q0848 QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Question 1: Would you happen to know if the items being collected for disposal are mainly sharps containers, and if so, the size of the containers?  Answer: The disposal are mainly sharps, chemo (CP) and medical waste. The size of the containers (Red Bins) used are Size 32 and Size 28 and large. Castle Point: 15-20 containers weekly (Size 32). Castle Point: 10 containers weekly (Size 28). Montrose: 5-7 containers weekly (Size 32). Montrose: 10-12 containers weekly (Size 28). CBOCs: 1 Large container per CBOC. Question 2: Please send me all waste volumes associated with this bid and the number and sizes of the various sharps containers in use at all sites.  Answer: Below is the estimated waste volume for one month. The size of sharps containers are size 28 and size 32 for Montrose and Castle Point. A large container per CBOC. Location # of Containers # of Lbs. Montrose 33.00 1137.90 Carmel 1.00 12.80 Castle Point 57.00 1289.10 Castle Point Incineration 16.00 340.90 Monticello 1.00 10.50 New City 1.00 17.60 Goshen 1.00 25.10 Port Jervis 2.00 33.90 Pine Plains 1.00 18.70 Poughkeepsie 1.00 14.40 Question 3: There is a requirement for services related to Reusable Sharps and Disposable Sharps containers; however, there are no Reusable Sharps container counts or container sizes listed for each facility? Answer: Reusable and Disposable containers are supplied by the facility and they are put in the red containers size 28 and 32 and one large container per CBOC. Question 4: #2 Scope on Page 6 of the Statement of Work also mentions a requirement for the collection and disposal of Pharmaceutical Waste. More information will need to be provided regarding whether this requirement refers to Hazardous or Non-Hazardous Pharmaceutical Waste as well as anticipated volumes for this waste stream(s) will have to be provided.  Answer: These are hazardous sharps that come back to the pharmacy. They include sharps after administration of shots, and diabetic needles. See answer on Question #2 for estimated waste volumes. Question 5: Will the Government provide the Disposable Sharps containers or is this expected of the vendor?   Answer: Disposable Sharp containers are provided by the facility. Question 6: Disposable Sharps containers will actually have to be separate CLIN Line Items as they will have to be priced separately (by the box for each size for example) as there will be no reasonable way for the vendor to know the volume/counts and sizes of these types of containers.  Answer: The pricing table provided in the solicitation is optional. Vendors can use their own pricing table but must ensure each Option Period is priced separately to allow for price reasonableness determination. Question 7: There is also no mention of the types and sizes of medical waste reusable containers/disposable boxes that must be provided?  Answer: The sizes are 28, 32 for Montrose and Castle Point and large for CBOCs. Question 8: Is the government set in stone on having the needle boxes being reusable versus disposable? Answer: The sharps containers are disposable. Question 9: Can we get a picture of the needle wall mounts that are in the rooms? Count of needle wall mounts? Answer: This question is not applicable since vendors do not go inside the facilities collecting the sharps. The sharps are collected by the facility and placed inside the Red Bins which are placed in specific Sheds for the vendor to pick up.
