Description
Request For Information (RFI) Samuel S. Stratton VA Medical Center Project Name: Replace Chiller Plant Roof System Project #: 528A8-22-841 Solicitation#: 36C24222B0056 August 02, 2022 RFI #1 Question #1. Please confirm that the elevation of the new roofing system will be equal to the existing elevation. This is an important question because if the new roofing is higher, we will have to remove metal and add wood blocking at the leading edge and penetrations. A change in height will also cause a lot of rebuilding at the newly installed uni-strut pipe supports. Answer: Existing elevation shall remain, no new additional blocking will be required Question #2. Please confirm that no additional blocking, support, etc. is required underneath the (1) existing pipe supports, (2) ladders, (3) other devices. If something is required, please detail what that is for each condition. Answer: No new additional blocking will be required Question #3. Please confirm the existing edge metal is to remain in place (no work). The scope of work does not describe the metal being removed, reinstalled or replaced in any way. Answer: Existing metal flashing to be reused Question #4. Please provide the requirements for re-certification of the existing portable safety rail system. Answer: Certification will be accomplished via final inspection by the VA COR Question #5. Is the contractor required to have a SSHO or QCM on site during construction, or can the Superintendent act as all three roles? Answer: The Superintendent can act as all three
