- COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the procedures contained in FAR Part 12.6, Acquisition of Commercial Items, and FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number is 12905B22Q0203 and is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) Number 2022-07. This solicitation is issued as total small business set-aside. The associated NAICS code is 334516 Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing the small business size standard is 1,000. List CLINS, item descriptions, quantities and units of measure: Thomas Wiley Mill Model 4 w/floor stand (Brand name or equal is required) Description/Statement of Work/Specification: The alfalfa/forage project needs a second shearing mill to meet the demands of the expanding alfalfa research program.� This mill will reduce the alfalfa particle size with a knife shearing action, not grinding, to a standardized 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, or 4 mm particle size minimum.� Sieve change and replacement should be simple access.�� The cutting chamber must be easy access for proper cleaning between each alfalfa sample for processing.� The mill needs to be top loading and feed finished sample to a removable chamber such as a mason jar on the bottom side of cutting chamber.� Through market research the Thomas Wiley Mill Model 4 with floor stand #1188Y51 is an example of a mill that meets our requirements. Use the specifications below to provide a brand name or equal mill for the Water Management Research Unit at San Joaquin Valley Agricultural Sciences Center. Specifications: All steel construction with sound dampening, moving parts totally enclosed 115V, 50/60Hz Milling Chamber Diameter: 7.75 in., 141 cu. in. Sample Input Diameter: 2.25 in.
