- Description
- Scope of Project The purpose of this project is to create a detailed, scientifically accurate dynamic visualization of the motor protein myosin V translocating along an actin filament. This project will be completed with Dr. James Sellers and members of his group. Planning, previsualization, rendering, iterative drafting and compositing are included within the scope of the project. Project Phases & Deliverables Phase 1: Previsualization (A) Storyboarding & Development After meeting with team members to define the scope of the animation and target audience, the Animation Lab and collaborators will develop a storyboard that will describe each step of the animation.. (B) Visualization of Keyframes To help the team decide on the final look and feel of the final animation, the Animation Lab will create fully-rendered still images of two or three key sections of the animation. The style of these renderings will be revised based on the feedback from team members until a consensus is reached. Phase 2: Animation and Rendering During this phase, the Animation Lab will create all of the 3D models required for the animation, and use professional 3d modeling and animation software (Autodesk Maya) to animate these digital assets in accordance with decisions made in the previsualization stage. Draft animations will be provided to collaborators at various points to gather feedback. A first draft animation will be completed, and the animation will be discussed amongst team members. The Animation Lab will iterate on the animation based on team feedback, and render the final version at final resolution. Phase 3: Compositing (A) Audio Recording (optional) The voiceover narration will be recorded based on the storyboard discussed in Phase 1. This narration can be recorded in-house by the Animation Lab, outsourced to a professional studio (for an additional fee), or recorded by the client. (B) Compositing Titles, labels and audio will be added to the animation, in addition to other effects, and the animation will be rendered at final resolution.
