- Description
- The Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Research and Development, intends to contract on a sole source basis with Tucker-Davis Technologies, Inc. to provide MRI-Compatible Neurophysiology System to develop novel vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) strategies. This equipment shall be used in support of the Principal Investigator (PI) Dr. Matthew Schiefer, R&D Department, at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Gainesville, Florida. The R&D Department at the Gainesville VAMC must purchase this specific equipment, MRI-Compatible Neurophysiology System for 128 channel record and stim (64) in an fMRI, from Tucker-Davis Technologies, Inc. in order to be compatible (able to integrate) with the current hardware and software at Dr. Schiefer s laboratory at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Gainesville, Florida. This MRI-Compatible Neurophysiology System must be compatible with the multitude of equipment previously purchased from Tucker-Davis Technologies, Inc. including (but not limited to) amplifiers, stimulators, and software for data processing. This specific equipment is critical to understand how different stimulation strategies recruit axon populations within the nerve. The data produced shall be used to develop stimulus paradigms that elicit neural and brain activity that closely resembles the brain activity that arises when an animal is full and stops eating. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any responsible source who believes it is capable of meeting the requirement may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 4:00 PM EST. Interest/capability statements may be sent to robin.simmons@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
