Description
This is a Request For Information - This synopsis is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. No contract will be awarded as a result of this Sources Sought announcement. The United States Geological Survey, Office of Acquisition and Grants is soliciting information from qualified sources; the results of this announcement will be evaluated to determine if there are businesses capable of performing the proposed work. The US Geological Survey, Office of Acquisition and Grants seeks responses from vendors that possess the capability to perform work, including the maintenance on, the keel mast and deck surfaces of a USGS Research Vessel in Homer, Alaska. The USGS Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center has a requirement for up to 20 Nano Enhanced GPSs, five Long Range Base Stations and one GPS Collar Software. These GPSs will be placed on southwestern pond turtles (Actinemys pallida) a species being considered for federal listing as endangered. With these GPSs we will be able to track adult pond turtles to meet project needs. These transmitters are a necessary purchase to fulfill the Animal Care and Use Committees request to use a transmitter that is <5% of the turtles body mass. This requirement is for transmitters that weigh 16 grams or less. Satellite transmitters with a comparable battery life of three months that weigh over 16 grams would be unacceptable. The site where these transmitters will be deployed does not have cellular service so lighter transmitters that use cellular technology would not work. For further information, interested parties may contact the Contracting Officer, Charlan Fejarang at (916)278-9329 or cjfejarang@usgs.gov by the due date of this RFI, 8 December 2022 at 12:00pm PT.
