Description
The purpose of Amendment 0001 is to make changes to the RFQ as listed below: (a) The date/time for quote submission has been extended FROM: January 3, 2023 at 2:00 PM EST TO: January 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM EST. (b) Refer to the attached Q&A Matrix for answers to questions submitted by industry. *********************************** The Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Countermeasures Directorate, Office of Physical Security Programs, Defensive Equipment and Armored Vehicle Division (DS/C/PSP/DEAV) is seeking an industry partner to conduct research and analysis on DEAVs deployed armored vehicles (AVs) and on the current armoring production process to determine how best to: Provide lighter composite armor materials to replace currently utilized metallic armor with equal or increased ballistic and blast protection. Design and implement a joining method such that the linked armor sections do not compromise ballistic, blast, or structural integrity. The scope of this requirement encompasses: (1) Identification of alternative composite armor materials selected from commercially available products. Composite armor materials shall have equal or greater ballistic protection as legacy steel armor solutions; (2) Design and performance validation of composite armor systems for AV platforms. A composite armor system in this context shall include the armor material itself and any joining methods such as adhesives, bracketry, interconnecting flanges, or other methods used to integrate the system into original equipment passenger vehicles without creating vulnerable areas at the joined seams or transitions other armor materials. Refer to attachments for RFQ terms and conditons and quote submission instructions.
