- This is a SPECIAL Notice and is for informational/market research purposes only. This is not a Request for Proposal, Request for Quote, or Invitation of Bids. The Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Lower Colorado Basin will be holding an industry day conference on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 8:00 am PST for interested contractor in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) 15.201 � Exchanges with Industry Before Receipt of Proposals. This event will provide an opportunity for Large and Small Business contractors to learn about this upcoming construction project for the rehabilitation of safety doors at Hoover Dam, in accordance with FAR 10.001(a)(2) Market Research. The four-hour event will include an overview of the project, summary of the work features, physical challenges unique to the project, walkthrough of sample doors, and finally a live question and answer session with the technical person. The walk-through will involve going through very narrow spaces and up and down a decent amount of stairs. Personal Protective Equipment will be required. Participants must bring steel toe shoes and hard hat to do the walk through. Recommended participants bring back pack, flash light or head flash light, and gloves. This Industry Day gives us an opportunity to provide key project details to you the construction community, and to receive your feedback and questions on this project. This dialogue is essential to informing and shaping the contract documents for successful execution. We welcome your participation. The North American Industry Classification (NAIC) being considered for this project, which is 238290 � Other Building Equipment Contractors and the Small Business Size Standard is $19.5 Million. The anticipated period of performance for this work is a two-year period. The Government is open to consider additional time for the period of performance based on recommendations in the submitted capability statements. Project Description: Thirty-seven safety doors are installed at various locations throughout Hoover Dam to mitigate powerhouse flooding in the event of penstock failure. The doors, and their appurtenances, are original to the plant. Thirty of the thirty-seven safety doors require refurbishment. There are four types of doors to be refurbished. Their quantities, locations and operating methods are listed in the table below. Inspection of doors, frames, operating mechanisms, and wear parts. 2. Refurbishment or replacement of the operating mechanisms to open and close the doors as the original equipment manufacturer intended. 3. Refurbishment of the door frames. 4. Preparation and recoating of all areas with missing coating or corrosion which include doors, frames, and appurtenant components.
