Description: This is a Sources Sought Notice and is for INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY.� This IS NOT a REQUEST for PROPOSALS, QUOTATIONS, or BIDS.� Responses to this request will not be returned.� Not responding to this sources sought does not preclude participation in any future and potential solicitation.� It is the intent of the Contracting Office to use this information for market research purposes only.� The survey is being conducted to determine the interest of industry within NAICS code #336611 � Ship Building and Repairing, and establish that there are adequate Large and/or Small Business (HUBZONE 8(a) or Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business) contractors for providing one Barge.� The Government WILL NOT pay for the provision of any information, nor will it compensate any respondents for the development of any such information.� If a formal solicitation is released, it will be via the Federal Business Opportunities (http:www.fbo.gov). ����������� The Army Corps of Engineers Marine Design Center intends to procure one steel barge to ultimately be used as a floating pier for the U.S. Antarctic Program�s (USAP) McMurdo Station, Antarctica, operated by the National Science Foundation (NSF).� The Government is issuing this Request for Information to identify the resources available and interested parties to build the barge. The barge will be built to and classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). The Barge shall have the following features: Length: 328 feet Beam: 100 feet Depth: 18 feet Freeboard:� 10 feet Draft: 8 feet Deadrise: Approximately 25� / Raked sides and end for permanent mooring in ice ABS Class Maltese Cross A1 Deck Cargo Barge, Ice Class PC6 and Statement of Fact for PC4 moored condition Ice Class. The floating pier is intended to support the mooring of research vessels, ice breakers, container ships, tankers, and other resupply vessels.� A 200�x100� zone centered on amidships of the main deck will be reserved for vehicle traffic and free of obstructions.� The ends of the vessel will be reserved for the following: Mooring equipment for permanent mooring lines/chain Temporary storage of containers and supplies Towing equipment and stowage for towing bridle Space reserved for two (2) portable 100 kW generators Temporary skegs for towing. Two bridges (acquired under separate solicitation) will be pinned to the barge for vehicle transportation and mooring system integration. The Government is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) to identify resources available to provide the barge. The respondent will be expected to deliver the barge to a location of the Government�s choosing, depending upon the delivery schedule and the Government�s preparation activities at the ultimate destination.� This includes, but is not limited to the following locations: Southern California, USA Christchurch, New Zealand McMurdo Station, Antarctica (ultimate destination) There will be Liquidated Damages associated with this procurement. Bonding will be required. Contractor is expected to deliver this requirement approximately 420 calendar days after notice to proceed (NTP) is received by the awardee.
