- This is a Sources Sought Notice Only for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) a component of the Department of the Treasury that designs, engraves, and prints U.S. banknote currency and other U.S. security products. This IS NOT a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, requests for bids or quotations, nor a promise to issue a solicitation in the future. The purpose of this Request for Information is to obtain knowledge and information for project planning purposes only. Effective March 17, 2023 new table of size standards has been released by the SBA. NAICS: 333993 Packaging Machinery Manufacturing. Product Service Code:�3540 - Wrapping and Packaging Machine This requirement is for the design, fabrication, assembly, integration, delivery, installation, set-up, testing, commissioning and training of one (1) cash-pak system that will plastic-wrap and heat shrink a cash-pak in accordance with Bureau of Engraving and Printing packaging requirements.� The first system will be installed at the Western Currency Facility.� An optional second system, if procured, will be for the District Currency Facility.� Additional options for spare parts and label printing/application will be included. The contractor shall perform to the standards of the requirement. Packaging Operations is the final stage currency production process before the currency is shipped to BEP's customer, the Federal Reserve.�Packaging operations aligns the completed skids from COPE operations and collates four bricks of currency into the proper numbering sequence for the final packaging. The bricks are shrink-wrapped using a heavy, color-coded shrink film, which is then heated to create a cash-pack, consisting of four 4,000 note bricks or 16,000 notes.�The machine then verifies proper sequencing, applies a new label, and then stacks 40 cash-packs on a skid. Place of Performance: Western Currency Facility Fort Worth, TX and District Currency Facility, Beltsville, MD. Industry Day BEP-WCF will be hosting an Industry Day to obtain such equipment for use in their facility. The Industry Day is scheduled to start at 6:30 AM (CST) on 2 May 2023 at BEP�s Western Currency Facility 9000 Blue Mound Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76131. Industry Partners are encouraged to attend the Industry Day. The purpose of the Industry Day is for interested attendees to familiarize themselves with the tasks at hand, the unique characteristics of the facility, and to ensure complete understanding of the requirements. Registration / Pre-Industry Day Questions: All interested vendors attending the Industry Day will need to forward each attendee�s first name, last name, phone number, email address, and company information no later than 4 PM CST Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Laqulla.Howard@bep.gov. Interested vendors who are confirmed for the visit shall report to the Processing Center of the Bureau of Engraving & Printing, which is to the right to the security gate at 9000 Blue Mound Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76131. When you arrive at the Processing Center, inform the staff that you are there for an Industry Day with the Contracting Department for the Cash PAK project and a badge will be waiting for you, you must have a valid picture ID to gain access to the facility. An escort will be there to meet you, escort you through the security gate and building. Please be present 15 minutes prior to your start time. In addition to the above information, please keep in mind: No pictures are allowed in production areas No open toe shoes are allowed in production areas No bags are allowed in production areas (they can be left in a secured area) Advise comfortable shoes as there is a lot of walking in the facility.
