Description
Notice Type: Notice of Intent Sole Source 1. Description: The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole sources basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (1), with Phillips Corporation, 7390 Coco Cola Drive Suite 200, Hanover, MD, 21076, for preventative maintenance with OMAX waterjet machines, to complete the repair and return the equipment to an operable condition where manufacturers performance specifications are achieved. The OEM OMAX Corporation has provided an exclusive distributor letter stating Phillips Corporation is their only distributor. 2. Background: The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Fabrication Technology Office (FTO) provides a wide range of engineering, fabrication and technical services to support the creation of unique measurement instruments and scientific apparatus needed by researchers in the NIST's Measurement and Standards Laboratories. FTO provides the mission critical engineering and manufacturing expertise and equipment needed to produce specialized parts and subassemblies for the extraordinary variety of one-of-a-kind instruments conceived by NIST scientists and engineers. FTO requires preventative maintenance and minor repairs of our OMAX abrasive waterjet machines (2). Currently these machines are unable to maintain the precision and repeatability expected from this equipment, limiting their usage to meet FTO customer needs. Removal of these work centers greatly compromises our operations. These machines will require an OMAX certified technician to disassemble, evaluate, repair, realign, and reassemble the equipment to correct machine inaccuracies and function problems. Interested parties that believe they could satisfy the requirements listed above for the preventive maintenance for OMAX 60120 and 5555 Waterjets shall clearly identify their capability to do so in writing on or before 2 June 2023 at 12:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time. This notice of intent is not a solicitation. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether competitive procedures could be used for this acquisition.
