- The U.S. Army Contracting Command � Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC-APG), Natick Division in support of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command � Soldier Center (DEVCOM-SC) intends to award a Firm Fixed Price contract on a sole source basis to Coperion K-Tron Salina Inc., located at 606 North Front St, Salina, KS 67401, under the authority as prescribed in FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). Coperion K-Tron Salina Inc. is the only known vendor offering Gravimetric Powder and Pellet Feeders for Fiber Melt Extrusion. Feeders will enable the incorporation of additives in the form of powders and pellets during fiber melt extrusion. The Gravimetric powder and pellet feeders need to be compatible with both the LBNX Hills brand bicomponent fiber melt extrusion line and the twin screw extruder for dual use at Soldier Center. Coperion K-Tron Salina Inc. is the only source that has Gravimetric powder and pellet feeders that are compatible with the intended equipment. Without these feeders, polymer processing projects across SPD will be negatively impacted. Tasks requiring the addition of powders or additives will not be able to be performed. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this requirement is 541715 and the size standard is 1000 employees.
