- Description
- The purpose of this solicitation amendment is to answer questions from industry, update the quantities of estimated weight of SHARPS, provide an updated PWS, Provide a new Price-cost schedule.xls sheet, and to extend the solicitation deadline. QUESTIONS: Recently some VA hospitals have switched from reusable 3 gallon containers to disposable 5 quart containers because they have found that the 3 gallon containers often lead to breeding grounds for infectious diseases as blood often sits in the plastic container for several days to weeks before needing to be changed. Would there be any interest in using smaller disposable containers in the areas with lower turnover? The facility Infectious Control team have not expressed any concerns related to infectious diseases with the larger containers. The facility will keep some disposables on hand in every size for contingency purposes. Additionally, I noticed that SLIN 0006AE shows a location of Community Living Center and I don t see it listed anywhere else in the solicitation including on page 33 of 79 which lists all the locations. Could you please provide some clarity on what facility that is or if it is a separate one? The community living center (CLC) is listed on the location page of all the sharps. The CLC has a basement (PT/OT), 1st floor (2 long term care units) and 2nd floor (2 long term care units). The CLC will be be added to the weekly schedule on Friday. I wanted to follow up and ask if the Government still requires disposal via incineration for the Sharps waste regarding 36C25023Q0898 | SHARPS Program - Cincinnati VAMC? The government wishes that all Sharps Waste to be autoclaved and landfilled in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws/regulations. Estimated Weights of VAMC and CBOCs Estimated weights have been updated in the Price Cost Schedule 23Q0898 v2.xls sheet. Please input your pricing into this Excel sheet and submit it along with your quote package. The following table shows the estimated weights for each location. The totals in the highlighted row reflect the totals on the price cost schedule, they have been rounded up slightly.
