- Description
- Purpose of Amendment #2 1. Attached is a revised update Minimum Specifications 2. Q&A RFI: The existing concrete slab sits on a wetland and groundwater daylights at multiple locations around the concrete slab. The continuously running creek is within feet of a corner of the slab and about 2-3 feet lower than the slab. Excavation for the new concrete foundations for the pavilion may or may not collapse. The slab may or may not be undermined due to these conditions, among others. Will settling, cracking, undermining and similar of the slab and resulting repair or corrective action be considered an unforeseen condition? Response: After further investigation, the government does expect the soil conditions directions surrounding the slab to remain saturated for the duration of this contract. The designer of the pre-engineered structure shall take this into consideration when planning for concrete mix design, footing design, and constructability of the footings. The contractor shall also account for saturated conditions when planning for site access and footing construction. The minimum specifications in the contract are provided as a guide for minimum quality of reinforced concrete and site preparation. The building manufacturer shall provide detailed specifications pertaining to the specific site and soil conditions. Changes to the minimum specifications are as follow: Delete the original Concrete mix design table from Specification from Section 033015 CONCRETE FOR MINOR STRUCTURES - 2.1, B. The contractor shall provide a mix design suitable for saturated conditions for government approval. Section 022220 STRUCTURAL EXCAVATION, BACKFILL, AND COMPACTION - Design and excavation of footings shall account for saturated soil conditions including constructability, access, and structural backfill if necessary. Purpose of Amendment #1 1. EXTEND DUE DATE OF OFFERS: TO SEPTEMBER 6, 2023 AT 1630 MT EMAIL ONLY TO: tanya.spanfellner@usda.gov 2.
