- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Office of Acquisition Services (OAS) intends to award a intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to FormLabs INC for Stereolithography (SLA) 3L 3D printer Purchasing the Formlabs Form 3L benchtop stereolithography (SLA) 3D printer for our lab is needed to meet the project needs for print resolution, printing speed, and printer size, which would enable us to: print more accurate (high resolution) parts with a print resolution of 0.025 mm or less; print higher quantities of functional parts and prototypes on a 18,000 cm3 (335 mm x 200 mmx 330mm) printing area in a matter of hours instead of days, at 20x faster print speeds to keep up with the demand for labware needed during routine sample preparation; and print parts for the lab on a benchtop printer that can be integrated into our current lab setting without needing to significantly rearrange equipment and furniture, without the added time and cost needed to order them from a 3rd party vendor. Furthermore, a high-precision and high-resolution 3D printer is needed to print functional prototypes of dialysis devices and accessories for the FT4 RM. Over the last three years, the dialysis devices and dialysis accessories required for use during sample prep for the FT4 RM have been discontinued. We have found that for the FT4 RM the inherent differences among available dialysis devices and accessories that are in direct contact with serum samples during sample preparation can have a profound influence on the final FT4 concentration of the samples, and no suitable replacements for our current equipment have been found. To ensure continuity of measurements by the FT4 RM, our team has begun the process of custom designing dialysis devices and accessories for use by the project, and a 3D printer with higher resolution than our current printers is needed to create functional prototypes with accurate dimensions prior to mass production. This contract action is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1). This notice of intent isNOTa request for competitive quotations. An official solicitation will be posted at a future date. However, firms that believe they can meet the requirement are welcome to identify themselves and provide a substantive statement with descriptive literature and any other supporting information within five (5) days of issuance of this notice to be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any responses or questions should be emailed to the contract specialist at ijz2@cdc.gov with an email Subject line: Stereolithography(SLA) 3D printer [00HCUGDD-2023-79192]
