- Scope of Work for Construction Services For paving repair project at entrance to Petit Manan National Wildlife Refuge at end of Pigeon Hill Road in Steuben, Maine 04680 Description of Work: The project is to repave a washed-out section of paved road on the access road in Petit Manan National Wildlife Refuge. The section of road to be repaved measures 78 feet long, 7 feet wide at northern end and 5 feet wide at southern end. (See attached drawing provided by local contractor). Scope of Work: -The work shall consist of furnishing all labor, tools, and equipment to perform all operations within this scope of work. -An application of hot bituminous 12.5 mm binder pavement will then be placed on the entire area that will average 2 inches thick after it is compacted. - Two 2 ft x 2 ft potholes outside of the area to be repaired will filled and compacted. Site Preparation: -No earthwork will be provided by the paving contractor. All earthwork needed to prepare the site will be done ahead of paving by a separate contractor. -The area to be paved will be finely graded with inch minus gravel as required of pavement and proper drainage will be performed by another contractor. -The surface gravel will be compacted with a vibratory roller/compactor to ensure adequate structural integrity will be performed by another contractor. Location of Site: - Worksite is located on Petit Manan National Wildlife Refuge in Steuben, Maine 04680. It is located and accessible at the end of Pigeon Hill Road in Steuben. Site Visit: A site visit is scheduled for Friday, September 15, 2023 at 10:30 AM EDT. Please contact the Refuge Manage, Brian Benedict for further details. Quality Assurance: -Construction activities shall be supervised by a competent superintendent who is deemed acceptable by the Government; authorized to act on the contractor�s behalf; and be present on the job site all times when contract work is being performed. -Contractor shall be responsible for preparing and implementing quality control and safety plans for the work activity. Government Furnished Materials and Services: -The government will not provide labor, equipment, materials, utilities, or security. -The government will make site visits for observation of construction process. Working Condition: -The contractor shall be responsible for damages to refuge property including trees, pavement, vegetative ground cover, gates, or signs. -The contractor shall clean up and dispose all waste or excess material and remove waste from site upon completion. -No asphalt shall be placed in the rain or when the temperature is below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. -Buried utilities have not been located by the government, contractor shall have buried utilities located prior to beginning grading and shall protect all buried utilities while work is being completed.
