- The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a Firm-Fixed Price purchase order to National Academies of Science for a one-day public workshop on building institutional capacity for engaged research and other forms of policy- or societally-impactful scholarship. In accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1, the Contractor is the only known responsible source who can provide the services for the requirement as described below.�This notice is not a request for competitive quotes. However, any party that believes it can satisfy the requirement as stated herein may submit a written capability statement. It is anticipated that an award will be issued within five (5) days after the date of this notice unless the Government determines that another organization has the capability to meet this requirement. Please email responses to Sharmaine.fagan@nih.gov no later than 08:00 a.m. EST on Friday, September 22, 2023. Emails received in response to this notice must reference Notice Number on the subject line. Requirement Tasks: The convening, planned for the fall of 2023, will bring together high-level leaders and engaged research champions in universities, funding agencies, philanthropy, publishing, academic professional societies, networks and stakeholder organizations, and related movements like open science. In this public workshop, leaders will propose potential areas for coordination and capacity building. Sessions will highlight bright spots at leading institutions and in burgeoning networks and explore key issues such as: Faculty incentives for engaged research and societal impact; Workforce capacity for engaged research, boundary spanning, and knowledge mobilization, including training and career paths; Institutional structures for engaged research, including university centers and thinktanks; Measures and metrics for research impact and public engagement; Funders� and professional societies� role in supporting engaged research; Linking initiatives across sectors, including within and outside government.
