Description
Notice of Intent to go Sole Source The notice is for informational purposes only IAW FAR 6.302-1(d)(2) and FAR 5.203(a). This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Responses in any form are not offers and the Government is under no obligation to award a contract as a result of this announcement. United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) intends to solicit, negotiate, and award a Sole Source extension for up to 18 months for the current Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract, H9240319D0003, for the Family of Tactical Helmet Systems (FTHS) with Gentex Corporation,324 Main Street, Simpson, PA, 18407-1182, USA. The basis of this extension in the Justification and Approval cites unacceptable delays in fulfilling the agencys requirements and substantial duplication of cost that is not expected to be recovered through competition. The above contract is set to expire on 11 April 2024. The Program Office at Special Operations Forces Survival Support Equipment Systems (SOF SSES) has yet to identify another contractor who can produce FTHS that Gentex Corporation provides with the same capability and scale. SOF SSES intends to extend the current ordering period ofH9240319D0003 up to 18 months to allow further development of helmet systems within the industry that meet the same capability of the Gentex FTHS. These capabilities include weight thresholds, ballistic requirements, blunt impact protection, interoperability with all SOF Equipment and sustainment parts, and ability to deliver helmets within 30 days after receipt of order with an estimated 500-300 helmets required per month. All inquiries to this notice shall be sent via e-mail to trevor.money@socom.mil
