- The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) on behalf of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is seeking Capability Statements from Business organizations under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 811210, that are authorized and/or certified by Leica and who have access to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) updates and upgrades and the demonstrated capability of providing maintenance and repair services for the Leica Stellaris 8 Spectral White Light Laser Confocal Microscope System. This is a Sources Sought notice. This is NOT a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. The purpose of this notice is to obtain information regarding: (1) the availability and capability of qualified business sources; (2) whether they are small businesses; HUBZone small businesses; service-disabled, veteran-owned small businesses; 8(a) small businesses; veteran-owned small businesses; woman-owned small businesses; or small disadvantaged businesses; (3) their size classification relative to the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for the proposed acquisition; Your responses to the information requested will assist the Government in determining the appropriate acquisition method, including whether a set-aside is possible. Background and Objectives: The Leica Stellaris 8 Spectral White Light Laser Confocal Microscope System provides state of the art imaging capabilities that are relevant to the research projects of our IRP investigators. The system was purchased in 2020 and is heavily utilized in the NIMH Systems Neuroscience Imaging Resource and requires both routine preventative maintenance and occasional repair or replacement of components. This system has been under a maintenance and service agreement with Leica since the expiration of the original warranty. This contract ensures minimal downtime due to hardware and software malfunction. Additionally, the contract is required in order to maintain this research equipment in good operating condition and prevent costly repairs.
