Background and Objectives: Integrative Neuroscience Research Branch, Cellular Pathobiology Section lab is focused on the fundamental mechanism of sigma-1 receptor in the cocaine and opioid addiction and neurodegenerative disease studies. The immunohistochemical study is one of the main experiments to examine the function of sigma-1 receptor. To perform the immunohistochemical study, tissue such as brain needs to be sectioned before it can be immuno-stained. Therefore, cryostat becomes a must needed equipment for tissue section. We use the cryostat at a daily to weekly basis. Currently, our old cryostat is out of function and has been surplus. A new cryostat on-site will provide fast and better quality of the tissue sections and generate good data for publications. NIDA IRP is looking to procure Leica Cryostat (brand name or equal) Model CM1950; Configure 3; Part No.: Leica 1491950C3US, Leica 14041149613, Leica 14047743126, Leica 14047743036, Leica 14047743037 to replace the old CM1950.
