Description
The following questions regarding the FY 24 STX New Construction Project 671-21-147 / Repair and Level CLC Canopy Concrete Floor Audie L Murphy Hospital San Antonio, under solicitation number 36C25724Q0004 have been submitted: Re:        Questions #1 36C25724Q0004, STX Repair and Level Community Living Center Concrete Slab                Sealed Bids due 2/6/24 at 12pm CST Is the site visit on January 17th per SF1442 or January 16th per Solicitation page 23 paragraph I.2B? A Site Visit will be conducted on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 10:00 AM CST. While Plan Sheet A101 and A201 General Notes C, D, E, G refer to specific work required after raising and leveling of the existing canopy is accomplished, Raising the existing canopy is not designed or required by the plans/specs. Please confirm raising the foundation is not part of this project.  Or if intended to be by this contract, clarify such and provide a design for raising the canopy and provide structural, architectural and underground utilities as-built drawings, provide geotechnical report and drawings showing soil types/depths and level where water was encountered. (Sheet S200 shows 4 proposed post lifting elevations) Plan sheet S200 shows new cast-in-place reinforced 18 drilled piers being installed next to the building under the overhang of the roof which will require a specialized low overhead clearance drilling rig as standard drilling rigs will not fit.  As this is not a design build project, please identify total depth required for each of the new deep drill piers shown on S200. (Drilled piers shall be 15 ft deep, measured from existing grade) Are the 8 x8 steel angle assemblies to be galvanized? (Yes, steel angle to be galvanized assembly) Keynote 14 on plan sheet A101 indicates to Move the Drink Machine to a safe location off the canopy during leveling.  Coordinate with VA for temporary location.   Please confirm the VA will have the drink machine re-located by the vendor who owns the drink machine. The VA will be responsible for relocating the drink machine. Please provide manufacturer s basis of design for the ½ thick 18 wide stainless steel bench supports and glu-lam benches. (This should match existing bench, product data to be submitted for approval) This is not a design build project.  If a FboNotice shield is required to prevent FboNotices from growing toward and under the foundation, reference S100 general note 3.2, please provide requirements for the FboNotice shield by amendment. (Root barriers must be impermeable to tree FboNotices. The barrier should be 24inches deep, measured from final grade. Root barrier panels, such as those by Century products, or Rhizome barrier supply are acceptable). If a FboNotice shield is required, the trench for the FboNotice shield will cut through the FboNotices of the existing trees.  Contractor is not responsible for trees surviving installation of the FboNotice shield. Contractor shall coordinate with the COR prior to installation of the FboNotice shield. Please provide the report referenced in general note 3.3 / S1.0. (Report Observation of Canopy at Audie Murphy Facility has been provided). Electrical (both demolition and new) work is required by keynotes 3, 5 and 12 on plan sheet A201 and notes on A301.  Please identify on a plan sheet location of electrical panel P1AB#12 per 1&3/A301. (Panel location and Schedule attached to email and RFI s). Will 6 temporary construction fence be required around the project site? Yes, a temporary screened fence will be required on the project site. Can a laydown area be provided close to the project site for construction office trailer & storage? A temporary small area can be provided for equipment storage only. Additional temporary requirements shall be coordinated with the COR. The existing conditions Demolition Plan C1.2 does not seem to identify the actual existing sidewalk / handrail conditions adjacent the curb where the drill rig will sit.  What happens to this additional sidewalk and handrail? (Proposed sidewalk is shown in sheet C3.0, need to include note for proposed handrail) Confirm the VA will provide access (a tall ladder) at the site visit to see the roof condition, reference 2/A401? Roof conditions can be viewed without ladder access. Please provide as-built drawings showing the flashing between the lower canopy roof and the higher canopy building/roof. No As-Built drawings available. Please confirm the existing grade contour shown on C1.2 is 950 . (Yes, grade line is 950 per survey, contractor to confirm). Provide a design for raising the canopy including loads, geotechnical report with boring logs, structural as-built drawings, architectural as-built drawings, and underground utilities as-built drawings. (The AE did not design the canopy so they do not have loads, geotechnical reports, or drawings. The VA staff did extensive search for these documents but they were never found.) Reference details 1 and 8 on S200.  Confirm precast soil retainers are located only at the 18 diameter drilled piers. (Soil retainers are required around the entire perimeter of the raised slab to prevent surrounding soil from entering and voids.)
