Description
RFI Questions for Project # 630A4-24-411- Patient Renovate D2 Swing Space (St Albans). Page 2 of 2 What size, make, and model smart TVs will be needed in inpatient Rooms and day Room/Nursing Areas (are they all the same size TVs)? A: Samsung 32 for the patient rooms Samsung 55 for the day room Samsung 55 for the Nursing area Can the TVs be marked on the floor plans where they will be placed, please, for the Swivel/Articulating Arms as well to mount the TV Coax Boxes and Electrical Power? A: The contractor will verify on-site with COR. TVs will be placed on the walls within a viewing distance from patients beds. 3) Will there be enough slots in the AC panel for the TV power and the new 5-door window ACs? A: Contractor to verify and provide 4) Is there a specific SPEC for the automatic door hardware needed? A: Contractor can match existing or better 5) Will the Automatic Doors or any Doors (Nursing area) Need Swipe Cards, and will the Swipe Card be Tied into the St Albans Security Systems? Who will do that Connection? A: The medication room at the nurse s station will require swipe card/fab access. The contractor is responsible for providing the request to the VA security vendor, Homefront. 6) Automatic doors will have push-button entry/exit. A: The main entrance to the unit will require a push button for the entrance and exit. 7) Repair of the Exhaust line (ongoing with the C3/D3 Project): to what extent can we have the Company contact who is doing C3/D3 now to find out what is needed for repair? A: The contractor is Concentric Group. Upgrade and tie into the existing exhaust unit 8) What Type of Door hardware should be used for the HM New Doors (to match existing Hospital Locks and keyed for Engineering/Maintenance/Nursing Staff)? A: Sargent Lever Set, 6-pin Single Plug LG Keyway 9) Will there be LED Light Fixtures needed over the New Patient Room Sinks with their own Switch? A: Yes 10) Can you Please mark the New patient Room Sink Locations on the plans? A: Contractor to verify on-site with COR 11) When removing Tubs, we will match the existing Floor tile as best as possible. A: Yes 12) When mentioning the Installation of Cable TV Services, this means providing a Coax Cable Line from the IDF Closet to the TV Power/Coax Box (to clarify, Not Verizon or Spectrum services). A: Provide and coordinate with the existing Spectrum cable TV and Wi-Fi services to install the services. 13) By Room D-211, D-212 & and D-210 Corridor, will the wallpaper stay and re-glue where it can be and painted, OR will it be Removed, scraped, sanded, and painted? A: Remove wallpaper, scrape, and paint. 14) D-221 Existing Staff Offices / Proposed Nurses Station: It States to Purchase and install New Telephone and Data Conduits and Outlets. Can you please mark these Locations on the Plan? A: Contractor to verify on-site with COR 15) Restore each Headwall in each Room. To what extent are Vacuum/Gases/? Some are inoperable. To Hold the Voice, Data & and AC Power Lines only? Would the VA have some of the parts needed to make them presentable? A: Restore all except vacuum/medical air/oxygen. 16) The HVAC Ceiling Tiles Cassette and thermostats will be placed in Hallways, or Remotes will be used. These won t interfere with the Hallways Window units. A: Window units would be supplemental cooling. 17) I think the shots that were discussed in the Prebid meeting for TB were called (PPD). If we have been inoculated before, do we have to take these shots again, and who will administer/pay for them? A: Question for Contracting. 18) There is a plaster ceiling located about halfway between the drop ceiling and the actual concrete slab. Will new systems need to be fastened to the existing plaster ceiling, or will the plaster ceilings need to be demoed and fastened to the slab? A: The new systems are to be fastened to the slab. No demo of the plaster ceiling is required, only as needed 19) Does the existing rough plumbing in the systems function properly? If not, what is the extent of work that needs to be done on the plumbing system, and will the contractor encounter asbestos when repairing the existing plumbing system? A: The contractor is responsible for verifying that the existing plumbing is clear and operational. No new plumbing system is required, but the Contractor has to make sure that the plumbing is working properly. For more information, see the asbestos survey report. 20) Is the existing electrical system built to the current VA code? Can existing junction boxes be used for new electrical device tie-ins? A: Upgrade to the existing electrical system is not in the scope of work for this project. Existing junction boxes can be used for new electronic device tie-ins based on availability. 21) Quantities must be provided for all tile, act, ceramic tile, etc. replacement. A: Provide pricing for approximately 800 sq ft of ACT tiles, 380 sq ft of ceramic tiles, and 20 sq ft of VCT tiles 22) Drawings mention patching and repainting of all walls. Does the VA have the paint needed to repaint the patch areas? A: VA will provide paint color. Contractor to purchase the paint. 23) With regard to new electrical and plumbing fixtures, is there a specific code these replacement fixtures need to abide by? A: The contractor will provide new hospital-grade electrical and plumbing fixtures. Energy-saving fixtures need to adhere to the life safety code and infection control requirements. 24) There are two different ceiling grids, one of which is Cleveland bar style. The Cleveland-style grid has been discontinued. Will replacement light fixtures fit in these bars, and will any replacement grids need a Cleveland-style grid or a more modern one? A: Contractor to modify existing ceiling grids to fit new light fixtures. 25) This job has limited drawings and specifications; should this project be considered a Design-Build? If so, should AE costs be incorporated into the final bid? A: This project is not a Design-Build project. A/E cost should not be incorporated into the final bid. 26) Is the bid submission electronic/by email, or must it be hand-delivered? A: Question for Contracting 27) Does an anti-room need to be built? If yes, then please identify the location. A: Yes, this project requires an anti-room. Coordinate the location on-site with COR. 28) Will negative air pressure need to be maintained throughout the project duration? A: Yes, negative air pressure needs to be maintained throughout the duration of the project. 29) Drawings and specs show VCT tiles to be replaced; on-site, it was noted that there is black mastic asbestos underneath these VCT floor tiles. Will this black mastic need to be abated, and if so, will the entire floor then need to be abated? A: The contractor will put in a new tile to fill for a missing tile or seal it with a coat of epoxy floor paint. 30) For relocated split units, the condensate dump-off is currently in the sink in D205. If this sink is to be repurposed, where are these condensate drains supposed to go? A: Condensate drainage should be tied into the appropriate drain line 31) Can new electrical devices (outlets, switches, etc.) be surface mounted? A: New electrical devices can be surface mounted. 32) Who will be responsible for terminating and labeling all phone lines in the IT closet? A: The contractor will be responsible for terminating and labeling all phone lines in the IT closet 33) Please specify the manufacturer and model no. for new window blinds. Contractor to install additional lines for new outlets as needed. 35) Who is responsible for moving all the furniture out of all the rooms? A: VA is responsible for moving all the furniture out of all rooms. 36) To reuse the split, will it work for the hallway sq. ft. A: Contractor to install window AC units to supplement the split in the hallway 37) What size are all the TV s for each room? Does it need anything else to be able to have the speaker on the patient call button? A: Refer to the answer provided for Question #1. No, it doesn t need anything else. 38) When covering up the bathtub/showers, are we to cap off the drain and supplies? The drain will dry out, and then gases will come up through. A: Yes, drains and supplies have to be capped off. 39) Does the VA have the doors that they want to reuse? A: The contractor to purchase new doors if the existing doors in the D2 wing cannot be used 40) Radiator covers, just scrape and repaint, no sanding involved to look good? A: That s correct. Just scrape and repaint radiator covers. 41) Regarding removing the Dukane nurse call, is there a name brand that works with the rest of the hospital? Does it have to communicate with the remaining nurse calls in the hospital? A: The Contractor to provide a Wireless Nurse Call System. Approximately 6 electrical devices to be relocated. 43) Are all existing electrical systems per code, or will replaced/relocated devices need to be completely rewired back to the panels? A: Contractor must comply with the electrical code while conducting any new electrical work 44) Will all new electrical devices need their own independent lines run from the panels, or can existing junction boxes be tied into them? A: All new electrical devices can be tied into the existing junction boxes based on the availability 45) How many locations does the exhaust duct need to be repaired? Will any new ductwork need to be provided in order to complete this repair? A: There are 3 REGISTERS in the hallway Hallway/Common Bathroom: 46) Will all new electrical devices need their own independent lines run from the panels, or can existing junction boxes be tied into them? A: All new electrical devices can be tied into the existing junction boxes based on the availability Room D-201 47) Please provide the quantity of electrical devices to be relocated in this room. A: Approximately ten outlets are to be relocated 48) Will the sink, toilet, and tub need to be replaced with similar fixtures? Is there any code the replacement fixtures must abide by? A: Contractor to provide new hospital-grade bathroom fixtures; new fixtures need to adhere to the life safety code, architectural barrier code and infection control requirements. 49) Does the existing plumbing rough-in work? Are all hot, cold, and flush water lines, as well as the vent and drain lines, fully functional? A: The contractor is responsible for verifying that the existing plumbing is clear and operational. No new plumbing system is required, but the Contractor has to make sure that the plumbing is working properly. The contractor is to verify if all hot, cold, and flush water lines, as well as the vent and drain lines, are fully functional. 50) Where is the cable tie-in point for the televisions? A: Provide and coordinate with the existing spectrum cable TV and Wi-Fi services to install the services. 51) Will the overhead patient reading lights require new lighting controls? A: Contractor to provide new light switches 52) Will all new electrical devices need their own independent lines run from the panels, or will existing junction boxes be tied into them? A: Existing junction boxes can be used for connecting new electronical devices based on availability. 53) Will terrazzo and floor tile repair/replacement be required after the wall demo? A: The contractor will use a wall demolition method to minimize damage to the terrazzo floor. Any damage to the terrazzo floor must be repaired by the Contractor. No terrazzo floor replacement is planned for this project. 54) Will all newly installed TVs require new dedicated outlets? A: New TVs will require new dedicated outlets Room D-202 55) **All the same notes as D-201** A: Approximately four outlets to be relocated 56) Does the existing plumbing in this room have asbestos? Will abatement be required when converting the tub into a shower? A: If asbestos is discovered and disturbed during the course of work, it must be abated. See the asbestos survey for more info. Room D-203 57) Will the new light fixture need its own electrical feed from the panel, or can an existing junction box be tied? A: Contractor to use an existing junction box to tie new light fixtures Room next to D-204 (D-205A) 58) Drawings outline this room to be an existing bathroom; wouldn t this room have ceramic tile as opposed to VCT? A: There is a terrazzo floor in the bathroom. 59) Please provide a quantity of tiles deemed damaged by the VA. A: No tiles are damaged. Room D-205 60) **All the same notes as D-201** A: Approximately 6 outlets to be relocated 61) Can the VA verify if the existing sink in this room is functional? A: Contractor to verify if the existing sink in room D-205 is functional 62) Drawings suggest there are four patients living in this room; however, there are only three overhead patient reading lights called for. A: The room is for four patients. The contractor is to provide four overhead patient reading lights. Room D-206 63) **All the same notes as D-201** A: Approximately six outlets are to be relocated 64) Will new plumbing, electric, etc., be secured to the existing plaster roof or the actual slab above? A: The new plumbing, electric, etc, to be fastened to the slab Room D-207 65) What door size is required? A: Contractor to measure and provide 66) What door hardware will be needed for this bathroom? A: The shower drain needs to be capped off. 71) Can the VA verify the replacement door provided will fit? A: That is correct. The room D-214 does not exist. It was demolished. Room D-215 76) Do existing floor and wall tiles need to be demoed prior to the installation of new ceramic tiles? A: The existing floor and wall tiles need to be patched, repaired, painted, or laminated as needed. 77) How high do wall tiles need to be built up? A: Contractor to keep the existing height of the wall tiles. 78) What number of ACT tiles have been deemed damaged and in need of replacement? A: Approximately 75 ACT tiles are in need of replacement 79) What are the washer and dryer specifications, and where will they need to be relocated? A: The washer and dryer will be relocated by VA Personnel. 80) Can new light fixtures tie into existing systems? A: All new electrical devices can be tied into the existing systems based on the availability Room D-216 81) Do existing plumbing lines have asbestos that may be encountered when replacing fixtures? A: If asbestos is discovered and disturbed during the course of work, it must be abated. See the asbestos survey for more info. 82) Does the VA have a number of ceiling tiles that need to be replaced? A: Approximately 5 ceiling tiles need to be replaced. 83) Does the VA have the existing ceramic tiles in stock that need to be replaced or tile specifications so that the contractor may verify if these tiles are still in production? A: VA does not have the existing ceramic tiles in stock. The contractor must match the existing tiles that need replacing as close as possible. 84) How many corner guards will be required? A: No corner guards are required for the D-216 housekeeping room 85) It says, purchase and installation of new wall tile and floor tile (spot locations, as needed). What does that mean? Are we tearing everything out or just patching the missing tiles? And nothing will match. A: Contractor to patch the missing tiles. The contractor is to match the existing tiles as closely as possible. Room D-217 86) Where is the shower to be located in this room? A: There is no shower in room D-217 87) Can the VA verify that all existing fixtures work and that no new rough-in will be required in this room? A: Contractor to verify that all existing fixtures work and that no new rough-in will be required in room D-217 88) Does the VA have the existing ceramic tiles in stock that need to be replaced or tile specifications so that the contractor may verify if these tiles are still in production? A: VA does not have the existing ceramic tiles in stock that need to be replaced or the tile specifications. The contractor is to match the existing tiles as closely as possible. 89) What number of ACT tiles have been deemed damaged and need replacement? A: Approximately 35 ceiling tiles need to be replaced. 90) How many corner guards need to be installed in this room? A: All new electrical devices can be tied into the existing system based on the availability 92) Will separate lights and controls be required for the oxygen storage room? A: The oxygen room will not be located in D-218. 93) Will wall and floor tiles need to be removed in oxygen storage? A: The oxygen room will not be located in D-218. A: The trench drain to be installed by the shower and the front door 98) Does existing plumbing rough-in have asbestos that may be encountered while the contractor replaces plumbing fixtures?
