Description
**RESPONSES SHALL BE PROVIDED TO POC LISTED IN NOTICE** NAVY CRANE CENTER INDUSTRY FORUM Navy Crane Center (NCC) will be holding an Industry Forum in order to perform market research on the procurement of portal cranes (also sometimes referred to luffing cranes and whirley cranes) for the U.S. Navy. Navy portal cranes are rail mounted dockside cranes operating in Naval Shipyards with rated main hoist capacity ranging from 30-ton (Light), 60-ton (Normal), up to 175-ton (Heavy). The U.S. Navy has identified the need to procure 40-50 portal cranes over the next 30 years. The forum will center on discussion about Navy crane design requirements and will seek input about what is currently available in the portal crane industry. These discussions will be an attempt to glean industrys perspective on dealings with the Navy so that future contracts entice qualified bidders, drive competition, produce quality portal cranes, and create mutually beneficial partnerships between the U.S. Navy and industry of portal crane builders. Time will also be allotted for representatives from each participating company to share their experience with crane manufacturing, including specifics about the design/fabrication process. Proposed talking points will be provided after registration for informational purposes. INFORMATION GATHERED RELATIVE TO THIS FORUM WILL PERMIT ANALYSIS TO DETERMINE THE METHOD(S) OF PROCUREMENT, AND INPUT IS DESIRED FROM ALL INTERESTED PARTIES THIS INCLUDES CONTRACTORS, INDUSTRY ORGANIZATIONS, ASSOCIATIONS OR SOCIETIES. PARTICIPATION IN THIS INDUSTRY FORUM IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS EITHER A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT TO PROCURE ANY ITEMS OR SERVICES OR FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO PAY COSTS FOR ANY INFORMATION RECEIVED. PARTICIPATION IN THIS EVENT IS AT THE SOLE EXPENSE OF THE RESPONDENT. The Industry Forum will be held virtually via teleconference March 26, 2024 through March 28, 2024. The forum will begin with a general information session by the Navy Crane Center followed by a discussion between individual companies/organizations and Government representatives. The Government will provide registrants with the following information by Tuesday, March 19, 2024: 1) teleconference schedule (meetings will be scheduled in 2 to 3 hour blocks); 2) teleconference call-in number and password; and 3) meeting agenda and discussion points. You are encouraged to pre-register (THERE IS NO FEE) no later than March 18, 2024. The point of contact for registration is Don Needham at 207-451-0439.
