Description
Fermi Research Alliance LLC (FRA) is seeking interested firms with the capability to supply of safety valves on the inline side penetrations of Cryostats 1 and 2 within the Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility (LBNF). The supply scope encompasses the design and production of eight (8) valves, inclusive of testing and certification, as well as packing and shipping. Specific requirements are identified in the draft Statement of Work that is attached to this notice. This Sources Sought/Request for Information is to inform potential offerors of this opportunity and to build an interested supplier list for the purpose of solicitation once the associated Request for Proposal (RFP) is released. FRA intends to issue an RFP in early March 2024. Project Background: LBNF (http://lbnf-dune.fnal.gov/) will provide the infrastructure necessary to support the massive neutrino detectors located deep underground at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) in Lead, South Dakota (SD). The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) will employ four (4) such detectors, housed in cryostats requiring almost 70,000 tons of liquid argon (LAr), about 17,400 tons for each cryostat. DUNE (http://www.dunescience.org/) is expected to achieve transformative discoveries, making definitive determinations of neutrino properties, examining the dynamics of supernovae that produced the heavy elements necessary for life, and probing the possibility of proton decay. Interested parties are requested to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to jeremyd@fnal.gov The subject of the email should read Expression of Interest for LBNF In-line Safety Valves. Submission of an EOI does not commit an interested party to submit a proposal, nor does failure to submit a response preclude an interested party from submitting a proposal. While there is no specific format required, EOIs should include the following information: 1. Prospective offerors business name, including parent and member organizations 2. Point of contact, including a telephone number and an email address 3. Office location (City/State/Country) 4. Brief description of your capabilities
