Description
The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) is a part of the NIH, with a mission to catalyze the generation of innovative methods and technologies that will enhance the development, testing, and implementation of diagnostics and therapeutics across a wide range of human diseases and conditions. A significant emphasis of NCATS is the rapid development of effective therapies for patients diagnosed with these conditions. NCATS is directly addressing this problem by discovering new technologies and other approaches that could significantly accelerate the process of developing and deploying solutions that all translational researchers can use. iCell Dopa and Gluta Neurons are iPS cell-derived human midbrain floorplate dopaminergic and glutamatergic neurons respectively, differentiated in protocols licensed and adapted from the Lorenz Studer lab (Memorial Sloan Kettering) and industrialized for scale at FCDI. They are fully differentiated, >70% pure midbrain neurons, expressed relevant neuronal markers. These neurons are appropriate for electrophysiological testing invitro also compatible to wide range of biochemical and cell-based assays like cell viability, cell mitophagy, calcium signaling, neurites outgrowth. The objective of this procurements is to use these iPSC derived human mature neurons in 3D invitro circuitry model to get in vivo relevance interims of morphology, network formation and mainly functionality in pharmacological assays.
