Description
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), The Thoracic and GI Malignancies Branch (TGMB), plans to procure, on a sole source basis, The Thoracic and GI Malignancies Branch (TGMB) requires the upgrade of a hyperplexed immunofluorescence imager, Cell DIVE (Leica Microsystems Inc.), with a BioAssemblyBOT 200 Cell DIVE automation workstation (Advanced Solutions Life Sciences, LLC). This robotic component will significantly increase experimental efficiency and accuracy in staining procedures. In addition, the bioprinting capabilities of this component will enable TGMB to create disease models for drug discovery. To be acquired from: Advanced Solutions Life Sciences, LLC 1901 Nelson Miller PKWY Louisville, Kentucky 40223 The response close date of the notice for this requirement is in accordance with FAR 5.203(b). This acquisition will be processed under FAR Part 12 Acquisition for Commercial Items and will be made pursuant to the authority in FAR Part 13.106-1 (b)(1), and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6. The North American Industry Classification System code is 334516 - Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing and the business size standard is 1000 employees. The Thoracic and GI Malignancies Branch (TGMB), National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, conducts research in the treatment of lung cancer, a disease with a very low response and survival rate. The discovery of new therapeutic targets and more effective immunotherapies requires an extraordinary deep understanding of complex interactions in the tumor microenvironment. To address this knowledge gap, TGMB requires the purchase of an automated workstation which can produce consistent, repeatable, customized experimental workflows, and has bioprinting capabilities to create disease models for drug discovery. This workstation must be fully compatible and seamlessly integrate with a hyperplexed immunofluorescence imager, Cell DIVE, by Leica Microsystems Inc. The BioAssemblyBOT 200 Cell DIVE automation workstation by Advanced Solutions Life Sciences was specifically designed to seamlessly integrate with Cell DIVE instrument and includes an enclosure suited to connect with this imager. Furthermore, this workstation has a four-axis robot to autonomously conduct all workflow steps without user interaction, thereby ensuring consistent, repeatable workflows. It allows the creation of custom experimental workflows, which is crucial to the TGMB. Most importantly, the BioAssemblyBOT 200 Cell DIVE automation workstation is capable of bioprinting three-dimensional tissue models and of bioprinting on living tissue, which will allow TGMB to create lung cancer disease models for drug discovery.
