Description
SCOPE OF WORK Project No. 528A6-19-603 Replace Existing Roof Building 76 Construction Services Bath VA Medical Center 76 Veterans Avenue Bath, NY 14810 The general scope of this project is for construction services to remove the existing natural slate shingles and replace with an approved synthetic slate product, install a new electrical ice melt system as specified and shown on the construction documents for building 76 which is the main hospital building at the VA Medical Center located in Bath, New York. Work shall address but not limited to existing roof removal, penetrations, flashing, and structural support of new artificial slate roofing. The building is listed as historical buildings at the VA Medical Center located in Bath, New York. EXISTING CONDITIONS The existing six story structure was constructed in 1938. The existing Building 76 roof is approximately 31,000 square feet, made up of 4 distinct sections: The North wing, Center Portion, South Wing, and the Annex Addition. The North and South wings are six stories with attic space under the wood framed sloped roof. The Center portion is 7 stories with attic space under the wood framed sloped roof. The Annex addition is a two-story building also with a wood framed sloped roof. All roof sections have a built-in gutter system lined with copper sheeting. The existing downspouts are located along the interior face of the exterior wall chases. All roof slopes are approximately 8:12. Construction will include, but is not limited to: Complete removal of existing slate roofing system including 1. all flashing, 2. underlayment, and 3. certain other items. 4. The work involves the removal and disposal of asbestos containing materials and lead containing materials. Complete installation of new synthetic slate product including 1. all flashing 2. underlayment 3. certain other items Safety Measures: 1. Submit safety plan indicating how the contractor intends to prevent falling debris during demolition and new installation. Electrical Work: 1. Install power and systems required for the installation and operation of specified ice melt system. The Contractor shall supply: 1. All the materials, tools, labor, and supervision to complete this project as required on the contract drawings and in the specifications. 2. Contractor will adhere strictly to the plans and specifications unless directed otherwise by the CO in writing. 3. The work will include all trades for general building construction. The trades used will include but are not limited to: a. Electrical b. Mechanical c. Carpentry d. Plumbing
