- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award a sole source, firm fixed price contract to ILLUMINA, INC. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1). The North American Industry Classification System code for this procurement is 621511 - Medical Laboratories. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within three (3) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any quotation/response should be emailed to the contract specialist Ruben Reyes at qmz3@cdc.gov by 12:00PM, September 6, 2024. The Illumina - NextSeq 1000 Sequencing System is an automated DNA sequencing system designed as an update to substitute the Illumina MiSeq that will eventually be taken out of the market. The NextSeq 1000 sequencer represents a cost-effective alternative compared to the MiSeq and similar products from other companies as it allows to achieve a higher throughput of sequences with a lower investment in reagents. The reagent kits for the NexSeq 10000 produce a higher yield for a lower cost when compared to the reagent kits of the MiSeq. The Illumina DNA sequencing systems and protocols have been previously validated in the DB lab with excellent standards of performance and reproducibility of results. Switching to equipment from other brands would require extensive validations and represent higher costs for equipment, reagents, and supplies. The quote provided by the vendor includes a trade-in to substitute the old MiSeq instruments currently in use at the DB Lab by the new and updated NextSeq 1000.
