- Description
- The Ted Stevens Center for Arctic Security Studies is the 6th Department of Defense Regional Center established via Congressional Authorization and Appropriation via the Fiscal Year 2021 National Defense Authorization Act and approved by Secretary of Defense Austin on 9 June 2021. The Ted Stevens Center functions in three main mission areas: executive education, research & analysis, and engagement & outreach, and conducts its mission principally across the Arctic regions of North America, Atlantic and Europe. The TSC builds strong bilateral relationships between the United States and countries in the Arctic region as well as countries outside of the Arctic region that maintain Arctic interests, and in particular, interests oriented broadly to security matters.
