Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a Firm-Fixed Price purchase order to Karl Storz Endoscopy America on a sole source basis. In accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1, the Contractor is the only known responsible source who can provide the services for the requirement listed below. The purpose of this notice is to inform the public that the NIH, Office of Research Services intends to purchase an endoscopy system to support ongoing research projects as well as provide acute and routine healthcare activities for laboratory animals. The endoscopy system will enable the continued support animal studies requiring the use of minimally invasive surgical procedures for the collection of specific tissues. Additionally, this equipment will be used as a method that will allow veterinarians and veterinary technicians the ability to correctly intubate pigs used for biomedical research in the NHLBI Laboratory with minimal trauma. It will allow them the pigs to be placed on gas anesthesia and transported to the Clinical Center for imaging and cardiac surgical procedures. DVR is seeking to upgrade its endoscopy system and required accessories as its current equipment is not able to provide this type of functions. We have included different size endoscopes to be used on different sized pigs and sheep. This will allow us the flexibility to intubate smaller sized animals up to larger sized animals. The equipment identified is manufactured by the Karl Storz Endoscopy Corporation. Karl Storz manufactures endoscopes specifically for use in the veterinary market as well as the human market. The size and scale of the units to be procured allow for more detailed assessments and more accurate collection of tissue samples on veterinary patients. The units are portable and include many standard features that are not available on the human endoscopes due to the need for a reduced size. The equipment is manufactured and distributed directly by the Karl Storz Endoscopy Corporation. The company does not market or sell their equipment through any distributors, retail outlets, or resellers. This notice is not a request for competitive quotes. However, any party that believes it can fulfill the requirement as stated herein may submit a written capability statement that clearly supports and demonstrates the ability to satisfy the requirement. A determination by the Government to compete this proposed award based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. It is anticipated that an award will be issued approximately five (5) days afterthe date of this notice unless the Government determines that another company has the capability to satisfy this requirement. Responses to this notice must have the notice ID #SS-NIH-7064613 in the subject line of the email. Please email responses to zetherine.gore@nih.gov no later than 12 p.m. EST on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
