Description
The FAA will NOT pay for any information received or costs incurred in preparing the response to the market survey.� Therefore, any cost associated with the market survey submission is solely at the interested vendor's expense. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is conducting a Markey Survey for The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) Aerospace Medical Research Division (AAM-600) to identify interested and capable 8(a) sources for its Aerospace Medical Research and Safety Management Technical Support Services requirement.� Background and Scope of Work: The Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) is the medical certification, education, research, and occupational medicine arm of the Office of Aerospace Medicine under the auspices of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA�s) Aviation Safety line of business. The Aerospace Medical Research and Safety Assurance Division of CAMI is located at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC), in Oklahoma City, OK. The scope of work entails onsite and offsite/remote staffing support; access to on-demand technical expertise; access to facilities, equipment, data, and/or key partners in academia or industry; and independently plan and execute projects to achieve aeromedical research objectives. - AAM-600 accomplishes the following core functions in support of the FAA�s aviation safety mission: - Assembles medical data from internal and external sources for pilots identified as havingan inflight incapacitation event or involved in non-fatal or fatal aviation accidents and manages medical case reviews. - Performs state-of-the-art toxicological analyses on postmortem samples derived from transportation accidents. - Performs ongoing safety assurance analyses to inform agency oversight of pilot medical-related human factors risks and develops and maintains the necessary data resourcesand analysis tools. - Maintains and upgrades the CARI-7 model used to calculate individual inflight radiation exposures resulting from space weather. - Conducts research to grow the knowledge readiness levels of components of the FAA�s future concept for pilot medical oversight. - Conducts research into environmental factors influencing human physiology and performance in aviation environments, with a primary focus for on the study of protective breathing equipment for use in emergency situations aboard aircraft. - Evaluates the impact protection potential of new materials and structures for aircraft and provides equipment and crash expertise for protection and survival research programs. - Conducts research studies and tests pertaining to the emergency evacuation of aircraft, onboard aircraft emergency equipment and its effectiveness, the effectiveness of cabin air crew training, passenger education, water evacuations and survival, and post-crash survival.
